Wow, wow, wow!!!
I can’t think of a more appropriate opening statement to describe a riding weekend at Toro Trail in the South of Spain. We had high hopes for the weekend, but we got so much more than we were expecting. Toro Trail is run by Lyndon, an Expat who came out to Andalucía 12 years ago to play with bikes in the year-round sun, and he certainly knows how to play on a bike!
With late model or brand-new Yamaha WR250’s and WR450’s, top quality riding kit and safety equipment, excellent instruction, and a luxury villa set in private grounds with a private pool and hot tub, this really is a riding mecca. Lyndon has created the perfect place for any bike-minded group of mates to run away to for a few days.
When it comes to the riding, don’t think that you’ll be confined to bikes with rev limiters or throttle restrictors, restrictive safety rules, or maximum speed limits either. Lyndon and his team will challenge you to push the boundaries of your ability, but never beyond them.
Their safety record is excellent, because their training takes your personal experience and skill level into account. If you’re a novice who needs to learn the basics, that’s fine, they’ll take the time to teach you. If you’re an expert, happy with the steepest possible climbs and ascents, mixed with flat out 6th gear blasts along dry river beds, that’s fine too, but they’ll also happily cater for everything in between.
But it’s about so much more than just the riding; there’s a huge social side to the set up too, with great food and drink at every meal, and loads of time to spend comparing stories from throughout the day.
Our whole group absolutely loved our time at Toro Trail, and it’s fair to say that it really did put a fresh injection of fun back into our riding. It doesn’t matter how much you love riding, how often you ride, or how long you’ve been riding. When you experience something new, or get to experience something that you’ve not done for a very long time, you can’t help but have a fire re-lit, and we’re already looking at other trips back to Toro Trail next year.
