Xiaomi phones will go on sale In Africa

In its continuing efforts to expand out of its home Chinese market, the manufacturer Xiaomi will begin selling smartphones in African countries including South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday. In particular, the Xiaomi Redmi 2 and Xiaomi Mi4 will launch in these countries in mid-November.

Xiaomi has been working to expand for some time. In 2015, the manufacturer saw a rapid climb in Chinese and global market share amid the launch of devices like the Xiaomi Mi4 and the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro amount many. It was the top smartphone manufacturer in China and the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world

Xiaomi remains popular with the release of devices like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 and the Xiaomi Mi 4c but competition from its own country has knocked it down a peg. The smartphone maker Huawei is having a dream year in 2015, having snagged both the top Chinese manufacturer and the third largest global manufacturer spots from Xiaomi. Huawei has not only launched quick-selling flagships like the Huawei P8 and the Huawei Mate S, it is also now selling the Nexus 6P its pure-Android collaboration with Google and the company’s high-end introduction to the U.S. market.

Valued at $45 billion, Xiaomi has gone from strength to strength. It's now the world's fifth-largest smartphone maker and it overtook Apple in the Chinese smartphone market earlier this year. However, it's since lost that position to Chinese rival Huawei, when the Xiaomi Mi5 release, Xiaomi will overtake huawei again.

Xiaomi Device will need to succeed in the African market to hit its 100 million smartphone sales target for 2015. In the first half of 2015, it sold just under 35 million ?phones. However, China's upcoming Black Friday equivalent, Singles Day on November 11, will likely help inch it closer to its sales target.
