You Know …. You Know the Thing! Part 2
You are longing for something more, or you are discontent where you are now or more than likely, you feel both of those things.
In Part 1, I encouraged you to suspend the requirement of knowing how you are going to do something or how things are going to work out for you. We looked at Emerson’s powerful quote to understand why that is so critical to your success. Emerson said, "do the thing, and you will have power."
The "thing" is that what you long for.
What is the Key to Making a Fortune
Many of us hold the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill in high regard, and for good reason. Napoleon Hill spent 20 years of his life interviewing the most successful people of his era. These people were beyond the top performers, having interviewed and studied Edison, Ford, Rockefeller, Carnegie, Schwab, the Wright brothers, Alexander Graham Bell, and many more.
In that book, there is a chapter called specialized knowledge, and in it, Napoleon Hill asked Andrew Carnegie, one of the wealthiest men in the world at the time, ‘what was necessary for the average person to accumulate a fortune.’
Carnegie said the accumulation of a fortune calls for power. And power is acquired through highly organized, intelligently directed, specialized knowledge.
But What is the REAL KEY
Most of you reading this are highly trained professionals. You have highly organized, intelligently directed, and very specialized knowledge.
But you immediately doubt yourself and say, ‘well I don’t have this or that kind of knowledge to start a new career, side business or investment.’ Without a thought of consideration, you dismiss yourself out of hand.
But Andrew Carnegie did not stop there. He said the accumulation of a fortune calls for power, and that power is acquired through highly organized, intelligently directed, and specialized knowledge, but here is the real key:
The person who accumulates the fortune IS NOT the one who has to have all that specialized knowledge.
You don't need to know how to do everything, but you do need to learn how and where to get that knowledge.
And that's what having access to a coach or a mentor will give you as well as utilizing your own untapped resources likely right in front of you.
All you need to do is to take one step at a time. Find people who are a little further ahead than you and search out others with the knowledge that can help you.
They are not any smarter than you but operating from a level of awareness that is slightly ahead of you in an area that you want to grow in.
So, my encouragement to you is to suspend the requirement of knowing how to do something or how it's all going to work out and just trust the process that has worked for thousands of highly successful people.
Just do the thing!
Get out of your self-entrapment and go after what you long for.
