You May Be Surprised to know...(I was)

It’s time to relax. After all, it is the holiday season when people expend their time kicking back with family and friends indulging in food and spirits while looking back at times past.  Sounds relaxing, though many find this time of year one of the most stressful. In addition to their normally full lives, there are added obligations that are more burdensome than enjoyable. By January 2nd everyone needs a vacation. A survey from Think Finance reported on NBCnews.com identified that 45% of Americans would rather skip the holidays. Consider these holiday stress statistics reported by the American Psychological Association:

-       up to 69 percent of people are stressed by the feeling of having a lack of time

-       69 percent are stressed by perceiving a lack of money

-       51 percent are stressed out about the pressure to give or get gifts

So, if you decide not to skip the holidays, here are some tips to help you deal with the stress of the season or whenever.

1.    Eat well and exercise. Yes, even a short walk can make a positive difference.

2.    Stick to a regular sleep schedule

3.    Disengage from electronic devices an hour before sleep

4.    Step away from your computer from time to time to give your nervous system a break

5.    Meditate 10 to 15 minutes a day to calm your mind. This will help you be more productive throughout your hectic day.

Now you can Relax and Enjoy The Holiday Season!
