Are you a woman working at a charity and would like to have a mentor?

At Aspire Foundation we are now over 2000 mentors and mentees strong, working in over 80 different countries and thanks to the hard work of people like yourself positively impacting the lives of nearly 2 million women and girls.

As you may know, we have recently increased our goal to make a difference to 1 billion women by 2020. As growing numbers of women take their place in the global economy as consumers, producers, employees and entrepreneurs in both developing and industrialised countries, they will have a profound effect on the equality of people, planet and profit. Our aim is to inspire and empower 'MAD' (making a difference) women already working in charities and social enterprises around the world to support their growth and impact to make an even bigger difference. In this way, we help create a ripple effect of change.

Having a mentor is one of the most important things a person can do. It’s hard to overestimate the value of a confidante from whom you can seek an outside perspective, support, feedback on your ideas, advice on your career or a listening ear when your energy flags. A recent study by LinkedIn revealed that 82 percent of women believe that it is important to have a mentor, yet only one out of every five women has ever had one!

Aspire Foundation have currently have 100 open spaces available for new mentees by the end August 2015.  We are accepting mentees from any country but do have a specific goal to reach more women mentees from charities and social enterprises in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Italy, Spain, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Philippines, China, South Africa, Brazil, The Netherlands and Japan.

The benefits of being an Aspire Foundation mentee include:

  • Advice, encouragement and support from a senior woman or man mentor in business around areas such as team leadership, team management, communication, work/life balance, strategic thinking and career planning.
  • An external perspective from someone outside your sector.
  • Set your goals over 6 months and strategise how to achieve them and make a bigger difference.
  • The opportunity to share your challenges and brainstorm ways to overcome them with an independent counsel.

Please let them know that this unique programme is open to any aspiring woman working for a charity or social enterprise that benefits women and/or girls in some way (it does not have to have a specific focus on women and girls).

There is no cost in becoming an Aspire Foundation mentee. The commitment is one hour per month by phone or Skype for 6 months plus initial training and induction of 2 hours.

For further information, visit The Aspire Foundation here. If you are interested in finding out more about joining as one of our mentors from the business world, you can do so on www.theaspirefoundation.org.

Thank you for your help and support. Please do get involved yourself or pass this email on or let others know as soon as possible. The deadline is August 31st, 2015.
