Your "constant companion"

Your "constant companion"

I've often said that no-one can be any more unkind to me than I can to myself! What I mean by that is the inner voice I've always had has the capacity to not only be optimistic, enthusiastic, visionary and inspirational - but also is an expert at putting me down, doubting me, filling me with dread and pessimism and telling me I can't / shouldn't / wouldn't be able to do something!

There are extremes of this of course, in people with Mental Illness, but for all of us, who (btw) do have Mental Health - it's not something that kicks in when we can't cope - the inner voice, our constant companion is there all the time. Not sure you believe me? Well, I'll pause and let you scroll and listen to what you're saying to yourself while you do!.....

There you go, that's your Constant Companion! Good or bad they're there forever. Quick question though - would you let others speak to you the way you speak to yourself? I'll leave you and your inner voice to debate that one!
