The Pocket ChatGPT Is Here!

Big news this week! OpenAI has launched GPT-4o Mini, a cost-efficient AI model designed to make advanced intelligence more accessible. At just 15 cents per million input tokens and 60 cents per million output tokens, GPT-4o Mini is super affordable, opening the door for more businesses to leverage AI.

The performance is impressive: it scores 82% on the MMLU benchmark and even outperforms GPT-3.5 Turbo in several key areas. GPT-4o Mini supports text and vision inputs, with plans to include image, video, and audio inputs and outputs in the future. It also has a large context window of 128K tokens and can handle up to 16K output tokens per request. Plus, it’s got better handling of non-English text, making it great for multilingual environments.

What It Means:

  • For Businesses: GPT-4o Mini offers a significant opportunity to integrate AI without substantial financial barriers, facilitating innovation and efficiency.

  • For Developers: GPT-4o Mini is ideal for creating complex applications. Its superior performance in function calling and multimodal reasoning, combined with a large context window, allows for the development of sophisticated and interactive AI solutions.

  • Safety: OpenAI has prioritized safety with GPT-4o Mini. Built-in safety protocols and reinforcement learning with human feedback ensure reliable and secure AI interactions.

Take an Insider Look at How Walmart Is Reducing Perishable Food Waste with AI

Walmart has introduced its new AI-powered warehouses for handling perishable goods. So, what does this mean for the future of grocery distribution?

As the leading name in groceries, Walmart is leveraging AI to organize stock and shelving in two of its 42 regional distribution centers, with three more on the way. These centers supply products to Walmart's 4,600 retail stores across the U.S.

Why It Matters:

  • Productivity: Automated centers process twice the merchandise with half the workforce. Human supervision is still required, but workers are transitioning into higher-skilled roles.

  • Efficiency: Traditional centers have employees walking up to 10 miles a day, lifting thousands of pounds. Automation streamlines these tasks.

  • Reducing Food Waste: Food waste is a major issue in the U.S., with 30-40% of the supply wasted each year. Walmart's AI helps manage inventory, ensuring perishable items are stocked and sold before spoiling. Real-time tracking and smart packing reduce damage and waste.

"We know what we own, in what quantity and where it is, all in near real time," Dave Guggina, executive vice president of Walmart's

How It Works:

  • Refrigeration: All goods are kept refrigerated to maintain freshness.

  • High Shelves: Shelves up to 80 feet high are accessed by robots, maximizing space.

  • AI Packing: AI algorithms determine the best way to pack and ship products, prioritizing fragile items like eggs and fruit.

  • Human Oversight: Advanced tech still requires human supervision to ensure smooth operations.

The Vital Role of CIOs in the AI Revolution

In our latest blog, we explore the critical role of CIOs in managing AI adoption, a concept we refer to as "The Great Reconsideration." On one side, there's the growing pressure to expand GenAI across more business functions. On the other side, falling behind in AI adoption could mean significant financial losses.

CIOs must adopt AI quickly yet cautiously to avoid costly errors, data breaches, and inefficient implementations. Rushing into AI without proper oversight can lead to significant issues.

At Inclusion Cloud, we believe that every tech initiative relies on the right talent to become a reality. For successful AI adoption, you'll need key roles like data scientists, data engineers, AI ethics specialists, and cloud architects. These experts form the backbone of a successful AI strategy, driving innovation while maintaining operational integrity and efficiency.

Discover the five strategic aspects that CIOs must consider to ensure a seamless transition to an AI-driven enterprise.
