ZAplus high-efficiency fans and the flood protection project

One of the largest engineering projects in the world – MO.S.E. – prevents Venice from sinking. According to experts, Venice’s extraordinary flood protection project will provide protection from destruction for at least the next 100 years.

The project, known as MO.S.E (modulo sperimental elettromeccanico), is an impressive system of metres high mobile barriers for the defense of Venice and its lagoon from the tides.

ZIEHL-ABEGG fan systems ZAplus provide highly efficient, reliable ventilation in the 20 m deep sub-structured tunnel system, which serves the service purposes of the extremely heavy 20 m wide and 28 m high flood barriers, in the most modern air conditioning systems of the plant manufacturer Clint.

The plant manufacturer Clint, whose name is known worldwide for centralized, hydraulic air conditioning systems with advanced system technology and who has been awarded the contract for equipping this project with heat pumps and fan convectors, has been relying on fan technology from ZIEHL-ABEGG for many years and not without reason. The intelligent ZAplus high-tech fans used here, for example, consume up to 30% less electricity and are predestined to withstand environmental impacts such as salt water and aggressive sea air. With maximum efficiency and low-energy operation in the air-conditioning of the enormous tunnel system, the proven products from ZIEHL-ABEGG contribute to protecting the wonderful city of Venice with its unique art treasures and historical monuments from destruction.
