Adesta has recently expanded our service offering to include network GIS mapping services. You may be familiar with Geographic Information Systems or GIS software, a technology used to create, manage, analyze and map various types of geographic data. Adesta is utilizing this technology to collect geographic points of a network path and equipment using specialized tools designed for this purpose. Our Chicago branch recently purchased a survey grade cable and pipe locating device to detect underground utility cables to within one centimeter of their location. We can then download all of that precise, real-time data and provide it to our clients through simple formats such as KMZ or CSV files. Access to accurate data is invaluable to network owners and is in growing demand. Adesta has a reputation as an industry leader in fiber optic design and management which positions us well to provide our clients with another valuable service.

When you think about fiber optics you probably picture an image of the speed of light, gleaming data centers, cables plugged into a glowing switch…but that connectivity typically starts right here in the ground, digging dirt to securely bury that cable. It may not be as glamorous but it sure is fun! 🤩
