About us

Central to our global purpose of delivering a better world, healthy water ecosystems are the bedrock of our economies and society. By servicing essential water and sanitation needs and protecting communities against the impacts of climate change, water infrastructure enables people and the planet to thrive. As the world’s trusted infrastructure consulting firm, we understand both the urgency of the water challenges facing our society and our responsibility to respond in an impactful and enduring way. A faithful, long-term ally to clients and the communities that we’re a part of, we work across the entire project life cycle, from initial idea scoping through final construction and operations and maintenance services. We operate in areas of water scarcity, abundance and everywhere in between, constantly transferring knowledge and best practices to innovate around the globe. From digital offerings such as PipeInsights™, to our PFAS destruction technology DE-FLUORO™, the products and services we’ve created are helping to deliver efficient, sustainable and equitable water structures for all our clients. Well known for above-ground structures, we are equally as proud of the uncelebrated and unseen infrastructure serving everyday needs. The pipe networks we’ve delivered have been quietly serving community water and sanitation needs for over a century and could encircle the globe multiple times. Fundamental to the wellbeing of billions of people, these structures often go unnoticed thanks to seamless operation and maintenance. With a global repertoire that spans flood protection to nutrient control and desalination, we have the knowledge, skills and technologies to build, manage and maintain water infrastructure that is not only the best in the world, but best for the world.

Recently, our team attended the Water Environment Federation’s Annual Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC), a premier event that unites water professionals from across the globe to exchange knowledge and insights through interactive sessions and workshops. This year’s conference, held in New Orleans, featured numerous AECOM speakers and moderators who shared thoughts on pressing challenges facing the water sector. Their sessions covered topics including Reducing Carbon Footprint for Utilities, Corporate Sustainability and ESG, PFAS Removal and Destruction Using Novel Technologies, and more. Ahead of the event, our leadership team came together to develop actionable strategies aimed at doubling our global impact in the water sector, welcome new regional business line leaders and celebrate our FY’24 achievements. We are proud to have been a part of this incredible gathering and to have connected with so many passionate individuals dedicated to water equity, management, and infrastructure. #AECOM #Water #WEFTEC #2H2O

Last week, we celebrated the opening of the Colorado River Connectivity Channel alongside our client, Northern Water's Municipal Subdistrict, and multiple project partners. A highly collaborative undertaking, we have been providing engineering design, river restoration, and permitting services as part of a significant environmental project to uplift the Colorado River system upstream and downstream of the Windy Gap Reservoir. Built in the 1980s, the Windy Gap Reservoir provided much-needed water for municipal use, but it also created a barrier for fish migration and hindered the natural flow of the river, negatively impacting aquatic ecosystems through elevated stream temperatures and reducing sediment transport. The Colorado River Connectivity Channel restores the river’s natural flow, allowing fish and other aquatic species to migrate freely and enhancing overall river health by improving stream temperatures and sediment transport. Congratulations to everyone involved.
