This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re uplifting and supporting our survivor moms. 645,000 premenopausal women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, and many wonder if they'll be able to breastfeed after breast cancer. Fortunately, breastfeeding is possible for many survivors. However, the ability to breastfeed and the extent of milk production can vary depending on several factors. Chemotherapy, radiation therapy, the timing of the treatment and the type of surgery are just a few things to consider before breastfeeding after surgery. For the best outcomes, survivors looking to breastfeed should speak with their healthcare providers, work with lactation consultants, and use supportive measures such as breast pumps, supplemental nursing systems, or donor milk. Brianne Griffis, IBCLC, CLC, CD, CLSP, Bri Blackenbicker, RN, IBCLC, and several additional Aeroflow Breastpumps lactation providers went above and beyond to support moms and babies in areas like Burnsville, Black Mountain, and Marshall, which were impacted by the storm. Whether traveling by horse, fire rescue, or on foot, they truly redefined the phrase “boots on the ground.” #hopeafterhelene Interested to learn more about how you can help with the relief efforts in #WNC? Our lactation team members, led by Brianne Griffis and Bri Blackenbicker, redefined “boots on the ground” in storm-ravaged areas of NC. By horse, fire rescue, or foot, they reached moms and babies in need. From organizing supplies to delivering donor milk, conducting consultations to educating on safe practices, our team worked tirelessly, often until 11 PM. Why? Because every parent deserves support, every baby deserves nourishment. In Brianne's words: “We changed lives.” Twin preemies supported, new moms relieved, infants assessed—small miracles in the face of devastation. For so many of us, this isn’t just a job. It’s a calling. At Aeroflow Breastpumps, we honor parents' intuition and support their journey. We celebrate and support the beauty of human resilience and community spirit. To all affected by the storm: we're here for you. To our incredible team: you embody our mission. To our community: thank you for your unwavering support. We invite everyone to join us in the spirit of support by making a donation to the North Carolina Breastfeeding Coalition’s Western NC Relief Fund. Here is the donation link: https://lnkd.in/gusQJCbr

At Aeroflow Breastpumps, we’re deeply rooted in the values of empathy, resilience, and integrity that define our community. Recently, our dedicated team in western North Carolina has put these principles into action by assisting first responders and supporting relief efforts after Hurricane Helene. We’ve been actively raising funds, gathering vital supplies, and performing welfare checks for those affected. In collaboration with the North Carolina Breastfeeding Coalition, our lactation specialists traveled by horse, fire rescue vehicles, and on foot to support mothers and infants in hard-hit areas. During their visits, they organized feeding essentials, offered breastfeeding consultations, conducted rapid assessments for infant feeding needs, and guided mothers on safely cleaning bottles as per CDC disaster preparedness guidelines. To further aid our community, we're making an initial donation of $5,000 to the North Carolina Breastfeeding Coalition's relief initiatives. Any amount helps, and your generosity is deeply appreciated during this time: https://lnkd.in/gusQJCbr Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your ongoing support.

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, healthcare professionals are demonstrating extraordinary courage and commitment. Lactation consultants, doulas, and nurses are going to remarkable lengths—quite literally—to reach isolated families in need. These heroes are riding horses, hiking mountains, and fording rivers to provide crucial care to new mothers and infants. Their efforts extend beyond direct care, too. They're establishing emergency supply chains and milk banks in areas cut off from traditional resources. This dedication showcases the true essence of healthcare: adapting specialized skills to meet urgent community needs, no matter the obstacles. These professionals are providing medical care and offering hope and comfort to families in their darkest hours. Let's celebrate these heroes whose work embodies the spirit of service and human kindness. In a world often focused on challenges, they remind us of the profound impact dedicated individuals can have in times of crisis. Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/gwdxPqRX

Have you wondered why babies fall asleep while nursing? There are a few scientific reasons for that, and our Medical Director, Dr. Jessica Madden, covers them in an interview with The Bump. In the article, Dr. Madden shares advice on keeping babies awake during feeding sessions and recognizing when they've had enough milk. She says, "They’ll often have clenched hands when they’re hungry at the start of a feed and will unclench them and have totally relaxed hands once they’re full.” Read Dr. Madden's interview for more information on baby feeding and sleeping habits: https://lnkd.in/eVtSYmrG #Motherhood #AeroflowBreastpumps #Parenting #Healthcare

Is it safe to take Adderall while breastfeeding? If you're a lactating mom managing ADHD symptoms with this medication, it's important to know that while then answer will vary from patient to patient, caution is key when it comes to taking Adderall. In a recent interview with SingleCare, our medical director, Dr. Jessica Madden, explains that limited research in this area means breastfeeding and nursing moms should always check with their healthcare providers before taking Adderall. She says, “if a breastfeeding parent is on prescription Adderall prior to breastfeeding, I think it’s okay to continue on it during lactation, but I would hesitate to start it for the first time when a parent is breastfeeding and explore alternative treatment options for ADHD instead.” Find more recommendations from Dr. Madden, along with safety precautions for taking Adderall while breastfeeding, in The Checkup by SingleCare: https://lnkd.in/gWtYt75K #Motherhood #AeroflowBreastpumps #Parenting #Healthcare

Pumping is an excellent solution for many moms who spend time away from their baby for work, school, or other reasons. But with so many different breast pumps on the market, it can be challenging finding the right one that fits in with mom's lifestyle and supports her breastfeeding goals. Before purchasing a breast pump, moms should consider how much time they'll spend away from their nursing baby, flange sizes, direct breastfeeding vs. exclusive pumping, suction strength, customization capabilities, portability, wearability, and more. Remember, mamas: Your comfort matters! And we're here to help.
