Carbon Credit Trading Startup Creattura Clinches Japanese VC Backing in Series A Round Tokyo-based Creattura, a carbon credit trading platform, has secured JPY 350 million (US$2.4 million) in a Series A first-close financing from Japanese venture capital powerhouses DBJ Capital and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Capital. PHT Investment Group Launches $200M PE Fund for Food Supply Chain Innovation PHT Investment Group, a Greenwich, Conn.-based investment firm owned by JL White Investments, has introduced a new fund to support its targeted mission of transforming the post-harvest infrastructure sector. Illinois Secures $111 Million for Climate-Smart Agriculture Practices 'Announced as part of a broader $430 million federal initiative, this funding is set to bolster Illinois' efforts in promoting sustainable farming and environmental stewardship over the next five years. The IDOA will receive $73 million dedicated to advancing climate-smart agricultural practices, including strip till, no-till, and cover cropping. These techniques are crucial for enhancing soil health, reducing erosion, and improving air quality. Agtech Terrantic Clinches $3.5M for Digitized Supply Chain in Oversubscribed Seed Round Seattle-based agtech startup Terrantic, which is digitizing the ag supply chain, has secured $3.5 million in a seed round that was oversubscribed. Led by Supply Change Capital, the round extended other backers including York IE and VITALIZE Venture Capital as well as Array Ventures, the latter of which is an existing investor. Planet Partner BeZero Carbon Leverages Planet Imagery and Forest Carbon Products to Inform Independent Carbon Ratings 'BeZero was the first partner to access Planet’s Forest Carbon Diligence product, which provides global 30-m time series of tree height, canopy cover, and forest carbon stocks. This data is already enhancing BeZero’s methodologies, feeding into its dynamic baselines and monitoring for forest projects. Later this year, Planet is set to release its Forest Carbon Monitoring product, offering partners and customers satellite-derived forest data on an individual tree level at 3-m resolution. USDA officials visit Jeff Tech's Farm to Refrigerator training facility U.S. Department of Agriculture State Director for Rural Development Bob Morgan, on Wednesday, visited the construction site of @=Jeff Tech’s Farm to Refrigerator program training facility — a project partially being funded by a USDA Rural Development grant of $1,125,000. “We (USDA) are thrilled to be a part of this,” said Morgan during a tour and discussion with Jeff Tech Administrative Director Barry Fillman and Adult Education Coordinator Megan Bundy.
