This week on Aspen Ideas To Go: Nick Kristof in conversation with Kelly Corrigan. “Side by side with the worst of humanity, you always find the very best,” says The New York Times columnist Nick Kristof. He’s spent decades reporting on the ground in war zones and amidst humanitarian nightmares. Despite witnessing atrocities like the Tiananmen Square protests, genocide in Darfur and war in Iraq, Kristof maintains a deep and abiding faith in humankind. In his latest book, a memoir called “Chasing Hope: A Reporter’s Life,” he explains what he’s learned about the pursuit of truth and the power of journalism. Podcast and TV host Kelly Corrigan interviews Kristof about his path from a small rural town in Oregon to a career that has taken him to every corner of the world. https://lnkd.in/gV7kkMkr

Summer is a great time to spend extra time with family and friends, but also to invest in your own learning and growth. Attending Aspen Ideas was just what I needed to recharge and inspire me. All of my passion topics in one place: genomics revolution and impact on healthcare, mental health awareness and support, aging and longevity, healthcare workforce challenges and expenses, violence prevention, digital health, reproductive rights and freedom. It was difficult to choose which session to attend... Grateful for all who shared their time and expertise. #AspenIdeas #AspenIdeasHealth

Recently, at the Aspen Ideas Festival, I spoke with CNBC’s Julia Boorstin and explained why I wrote my op-ed about falling in love with electric vehicles. Everyone that knows me, knows I’ve spent my whole life loving cars, building them, racing them and am in a lot of ways an old-school car guy. As I explain in the article, I was surprised when I fell in love with EVs and it wasn’t because of politics or the environmental benefits. It was because I love to drive and the driving experience of my electric F-150 Lightning is wonderful. And as CEO of Ford Motor Company, I see how EVs can improve the lives of our customers and this transition is important for our company and employees. As I mention in my op-ed and in this video, I think it’s important we start talking more about the actual human experience of driving EVs, instead of the politics. If you haven’t read the op-ed yet, you can read the full piece here: https://bit.ly/3Y2jrNn. Thanks to everyone that has responded so far and shared their own experience. #ElectricVehicles #FordMotorCompany #AspenIdeas

"I came away with ideas big and small and new opportunities for collaboration. I felt as if, despite all the barriers we face in trying to fix this broken healthcare system, there is a great deal of hope and possibility that was shared among an enormous community of people all fighting the good fight." Dr. Fred Pelzman writes in MedPage Today about his experience as a first time attendee at Aspen Ideas: Health. Read his full op-ed at the link below.
