The American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) MSU Student Chapter will be hosting leadership representatives from the ASPRS mid-south region, including Orrin Thomas and David Hughes from the Oak Ridge National Lab (ORNL) in Tennessee, as well as Michael Nolte from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. On Friday, April 5th, at 2:00 PM, Dr. Orrin Thomas from ORNL will deliver a talk on "Automatic Global Two-Meter Digital Surface Model" at Hilbun Hall, Room 202. The additional speakers will also talk about other research topics. Internship opportunities are available for students. All are invited. ***A few updates on the ASPRS Mid-South Regional Conference: 9-10 May, 2024 at Oak Ridge National Laboratory*** + We are so very pleased to have 3 sponsors this year! We have 6! Our keynote spotlight in today’s update is Dr. Ayman Habib. Dr. Ayman Habib is the Thomas A. Page Professor at the Lyles School of Civil Engineering at Purdue University. He is the Co-Director of the Civil Engineering Center for Applications of UAS for a Sustainable Environment (CE-CAUSE). He is also the Associate Director of Purdue University’s Joint Transportation Research Program (JTRP) and Institute of Digital Forestry (iDiF). He received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in photogrammetry from The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, USA, in 1993 and 1994, respectively. His research interests include the fields of terrestrial and aerial mobile mapping systems using photogrammetric and LiDAR remote sensing modalities, UAV-based 3D mapping, and integration of multi-modal, multi-platform, and multi-temporal remote sensing data for applications in transportation, infrastructure monitoring, environmental protection, precision agriculture, digital forestry, resource management, and archeology.
