It continues to be an honor and privilege to serve our BMCP cohort. As we say a HUGE congratulations to our 6th cohort in Metro Boston Cohort 5, we wish for them continued growth and upward mobility. They have worked diligently, trusted pivoting with us and have extended grace. We look forward to seeing what they accomplish in their future. We love certificate ceremony! Our community together opened with words from Bunker Hill CC , our unwavering partner with incredible educators who set the tone of the first 10 program weeks.Thank you for supporting each participant holistically, showing care and outlining expectation, guiding them toward their potential and the future OJT. You set the tone with Metro Boston Cohort 5 and they knew to deliver. To our incredible employer partners in this cohort: Bank of America Boston Housing Authority Boston Scientific John Hancock Mass General Brigham Triumvirate Environmental thank you for believing in our program, our participants and being an active collaborator. Your words during our August 23rd ceremony were heartfelt and as important for participants to hear as much as it was important to hear the glorious words they shared. Your belief in them has been steadfast. Your commitment and understanding of this program led to transformational opportunities for this Metro Boston cohort 5. Many in this cohort heard about the program from past BMCP alumni and CBOs which shows the program reach. As we say in the program “what comes before impacts what comes later”. Thank you for being great stewards of the program.

We will soon host our 6th BMCP certificate ceremony (Friday, August 23rd at Bunker Hill CC ) for our 5th Metro Boston Cohort. In the past 20 weeks, from April orientation through classroom and now On the Job Training (OJT) completion, our cohort has often been challenged and at times asked a question in our daily posts. On May 23rd they were asked about the Dunning-Kruger Effect and also “How do you interpret this post by James Baldwin”. As is often the case, BMCP participants’ feedback and interpretation was insightful, thoughtfully constructed and provided perspective for each other. Working with this cohort and our BMCP Alumni reminds us daily of the importance of opportunity and support. We can talk about making changes to systemic practices, but the acumen of such change involves investment and acknowledgement. We may not in fact be the smartest in the room, and we too require our own growth and change to facilitate that in others.

We were discussing something similar this past Wednesday during BMCP orientation.

Quiet team members are your secret weapon. Sadly, around 70% of managers overlook the quiet ones as potential high performers. Their three hidden superpowers are: - Observing: they catch even the smallest details. - Analyzing: they strategize quietly but effectively. - Supporting: their calm presence is a steady anchor. Every leader should: 1. Create space for their style – while not everyone shines in the spotlight, ensure they have a voice in quieter settings where they're more comfortable. 2. Embrace their unique talents – many are often brilliant strategists and innovators. 3. Understand that quiet doesn't mean disengaged – quiet individuals contribute in their unique ways. Above all, value the strengths of quiet individuals. It is an underestimated power. 💪🏽 P.S. Do you recognize these quiet strengths in someone? Share your thoughts below. 👇🏽

Today two BMCP alumni from cohort 3 and cohort 4 attended a panel during the #Seamless Advising Summit held at UMass Boston. They greatly appreciated the opportunity to participate, the moderation by today's keynote Liya Escalera, PhD and the audience questions. Gratitude to their employers Boston Scientific and MassMutual for your continued advocation and mentorship to BMCP alumni.
