The Bloomberg B20 event in Sao Paulo, Brazil was a milestone for our #Cure4Cancer global movement. Multiple leaders from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Hospital Sírio-Libanês, Dasa, Amgen, and public-private sectors in Latin America convened at the Bloomberg New Economy International Cancer Coalition roundtable, and converged on a shared strategy to advance global health equity in access to clinical trials and precision oncology. The future of oncology is no longer about ivory tower cancer centers, but cancer networks that may serve the 95% of patients in diverse global communities who miss out on clinical trials. Hence we decided to establish a multi-stakeholder Latin America Task Force to advance global health equity via a hub-and-spoke network model in this important region. What an incredible week! Proud doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel to be part of the Bloomberg team that delivered the Bloomberg New Economy Forum at B20 in my home country of Brazil.
