At this year’s F+L Week, Emmanuelle Faure-Birchem, Chevron Oronite's global product line manager for Automotive Engine Oils, Viscosity Modifiers and Small Engines, outlined Oronite's steadfast commitment to lower carbon. Faure-Birchem highlighted the focus on additive solutions tailored for key propulsion technologies using alternative fuels such as biofuels, hydrogen and compressed natural gas. She also discussed formulations designed for use of re-refined base oil (RRBO) across Chevron Oronite's heavy-duty and passenger car automotive product lines. Rebecca Warden and Travis Holbrook of Chevron Oronite contributed to the July edition of TLT Magazine in an article, entitled “Bubble Trouble in Electric Vehicle Fluids.” “The electrical drive fluid (EDF) space is still pretty new,” Holbrook says. Many of these new performance requirements like extreme aeration resistance, dielectric properties and thermal properties are new and unique to these fluids, and we’re continually developing a database of components and fluid designs to be used toward predictive modeling of performance testing. Chevron Oronite had a wonderful time at the 16th ICIS Asian Base Oils & Lubricants Conference on June 27–28th in Singapore. A special acknowledgment to Chevron Oronite’s Padmanabhan Rajagopalan, Regional product line manager – AEO/VM/SE, APR, for his expert insights during the panel on the “Growth of Re-refining in Asia.” During the panel discussion, Raj shared Chevron Oronite’s approach to qualifying and approving re-refined base oil (RRBO) in automotive additive and lubricant formulations and the opportunities and requirements for the growth of RRBO in Asia. Chevron Oronite has been on a journey to continuously update our Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) methodology to align with the latest chemical and lubricant industry guidance. We have recently received a review statement from TÜV Rheinland acknowledging our latest PCF methodology adheres to TfS - TOGETHER FOR SUSTAINABILITY AISBL guidelines and ISO 14067:2018 standards.
