Welcome to the world of CIRCA. CIRCA Hotels was incorporated in 2013 with a view to establishing a network of small luxury hotels and day spa's in Australasia based upon a slightly different business model than that which is currently available. While we always endevoured to create something quite different, we did not realise what impact we would have on both the industry and the locations in which we have so far established ourselves. Whether that has been by design or default, CIRCA is more often described as “a feeling, a way, a sense or a style”, more so than a defined functional product or service. Whether it is the style of the properties in such unusual locations, the completeness of the branding, the demeanour of the staff, the style of service or simply the interior design, there is an intangible element that has had an immediate impact upon all of those who have entered a CIRCA property. While the catch phrase of CIRCA is like “a different world”, the term “a different world” describes what has been created, not how, or more to the point, what is at the essence of CIRCA. In reality CIRCA is very much a reflection of the owner’s personalities, their pasts and their experiences, their futures and their aspirations and their open mindedness to all conceivable possibilities. The Indonesian influence is obvious and yet subtle and refined, the youthfulness is at the fore and the maturity is at the core, while the Australian aspects are the obvious foundation. Such diverse hotel companies as 21c, Ace, Aman and Droop have been an inspiration and artists and designers such as Barata Sena and Michael Moerkerk have instilled excitement with their creations that are displayed throughout the CIRCA properties. The initial hotel in Corowa, NSW opened in 2015 after a two year renovation of a classic art deco former bank building built in 1936 - hence CIRCA 1936. A second property, CIRCA 1929 in Wagga Wagga is operated under a license arrangement and opened in December 2016. The company continues to search for suitable opportunities to expand further, explore opportunities for soft diversification and strive for the aspiration of excellence while compiling multiple layers of complimentary, non-conflicting elements in service, facilities and features, evolving and breaking new ground, not to prove anything to anyone, but simply to be everything that we can be, unconstrained by industry standards but guided by industry’s highest ideals.
