Our CITGO Lake Charles Refinery team has wrapped up another fantastic fundraising event for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), raising more than $578,000 to accelerate research, advance care and empower families living with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related neuromuscular diseases to live longer, more independent lives. “The CITGO MDA Golf Classic is once again the largest single-day fundraiser for MDA in the state of Louisiana,” said Sterling Neblett, Vice President and General Manager of the Lake Charles Manufacturing Complex. “We are so appreciative of our generous vendors as we enjoyed the comradery and opportunity to strengthen those connections while supporting a wonderful cause.” "We extend our deepest gratitude for the unwavering support shown by CITGO, its dedicated employees, valued vendors, marketers, and retailers, throughout our partnership spanning 39 years," remarked Tracy Shield Denton, Senior Vice President, Development Partnerships, MDA. Congratulations to our 2024 CITGO Innovation Scholarship recipients! In total, 25 high school students and nine CITGO interns from our operating areas received scholarships to pursue a degree in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM). The Innovation Scholarships are a key component of the CITGO STEM Talent Pipeline. Since the program’s inception in 2016, CITGO has granted more than $6 million to schools, universities, and non-profit organizations, and has established 13 CITGO Innovation Academies in our operational areas. In honor of the CITGO Caring For Our Coast Program reaching 10 years, CITGO Lake Charles Refinery partnered with local organizations to clean up litter and debris at the Sabine National Wildlife Refuge and remove invasive trees at Sam Houston Jones State Park.
