Working to enable a sustainable, resilient and climate-safe future.
About us
Denver is working to enable a sustainable, resilient, climate-safe future in collaboration with fellow departments, other units of government, and community partners. Cities generate nearly 70% of global greenhouse gas emissions, that makes us a key part of the climate solution. In 2020, Denverites voted to raise the local sales and use tax to create the Climate Protection Fund. This unique fund raises $40M+ a year to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution, support climate adaptation and create new jobs.

Since 2022, Denver's e-bike rebate program has added over 9,000 e-bikes onto its roads. E-bikes purchased through this program are, on average, replacing over 100,00 vehicle miles every week! E-bikes help the city reduce pollution, improve air quality and offer a cleaner, healthier way to travel. E-bike rebates return for the last time this year on Tuesday, October 29, at 11 a.m. We expect all rebates to be claimed in under 10 minutes. Be sure to learn what documents you need to be ready to go: denvergov.org/ebike

Today is International Day of Climate Action! Denver is eliminating pollution and waste while investing in clean energy and resiliency to protect all our communities for future generations. Since 2021, the Climate Protection Fund has helped reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This reduction equals removing nearly 80,000 gas-powered cars from our roads for one year! With the support of Denverites, we are using this funding to improve quality of life and help communities thrive. In the last year, Denver has: • Planted over 1,000 trees in neighborhoods with the lowest tree cover. Trees help improve the quality of life and expand our urban canopy. • Built 16 solar canopies across the city. These aim to provide people with clean energy and help them save on their electric bills. • Gave funding to over 75 minority- and women-owned small businesses. These businesses used funding to become more sustainable. • Engaged with over 100,000 Denverites in climate actions like composting education. • Provided thousands of rebates for e-bikes, electric vehicle charging and heat pumps. • And so much more! And we're just getting started! Read how Denver is tackling the climate crisis: https://bit.ly/4clXxJ5 City and County of Denver

Meet Marie. She is a senior who suffered from severe indoor allergies for years due to poor air quality in her home. Through Denver’s Healthy Homes program, and in partnership with Energy Outreach Colorado she received $32,000 in home upgrades at no cost to her. Her upgrades included a heat pump, insulation and an air purifier. The timely installation eliminated Marie’s allergy issues in the home. Despite switching to all-electric systems, Marie’s utility bills remained unchanged. We are proud of the program’s effectiveness in improving both health and energy efficiency for low-income residents. Marie said the installation was “completed beautifully and timely. We love it.” Want to learn more about making upgrades to your home? See if a heat pump is right for your home: https://bit.ly/47OUoQC
