Happy 25th work anniversary to Jason Swanson, Business Publication Corp.’s vice president of operations. Jason joined BPC as an account executive for Cityview and has held various positions before assuming his current role in 2017. He is responsible for a wide range of duties including audience development, IT, administration, photography and customer service. Jason said the parts of the job he enjoys most are the connections with the community, the people he works with, as well as working with people in general, and the feeling that no day is ever the same because he works with several different departments. He added that he has specifically enjoyed working for BPC Owner and Chair Connie Wimer. One of Jason’s favorite projects that he has led is Forty Under 40. “I took that over probably 15 years ago, maybe more, and I really take satisfaction in putting together that program, recognizing the people every year,” he said. “I get satisfaction out of seeing how proud their families are. Their parents come and they're excited. And it's a chance for us to give somebody a pat on the back for doing a good job.” Thank you, Jason, for all you do to make Business Publications Corporation, Inc a strong and growing company.

Five years after purchasing 88 acres of land in West Des Moines, Des Moines University will open its new $260 million campus to the public during a celebration event on Saturday. The new site at 8025 Grand Ave., located north of Grand Avenue and west of South Jordan Creek Parkway, is over three times as large as its previous 24-acre location, providing opportunities for growth now and in the future, said DMU President and CEO Angela Franklin. The medical and health science university’s former campus at 3200 Grand Ave. in Des Moines was originally designed as a high school that housed St. Joseph Academy, a Catholic girls school, until DMU moved into the space in 1972. As time passed, it became clear to Franklin that they were limited in their ability to expand. https://lnkd.in/gD_dtK-g

Check out this exclusive story from Business Record staff writer Sarah Diehn:
You heard it here first: A new venture capital fund is launching in Iowa. Tej Dhawan and JD Geneser are raising a $6 million fund that will be open to early-stage startups statewide and in any industry. Dhawan said work to define priorities for Iowa's entrepreneurial ecosystem were the foundation that made the fund possible. “Had those early series of meetings not happened I don’t think we would be meeting today because the clarity of thought that came through that team’s work on the research park campus, at the MIT campus and beyond is what has ultimately led us to this.” Read the whole story, only in the Business Record, in today's innovationIOWA newsletter: https://lnkd.in/gCrVDmSR
