Medical providers make dozens of clinical decisions a day with little time for researching the latest guidance. Which tests does a patient need? What drugs should be prescribed for an uncommon condition? How do you treat a newborn with low blood sugar? We're trying to make that up-to-date guidance and research easier to find for our Dartmouth Health Children's providers as they care for nearly 60,000 children in New Hampshire and Vermont. We partnered with C8 Health to develop a “knowledge management system” across all our pediatric locations that will put that guidance and latest research in one spot. “It’s another way to create a regional pediatric health delivery system that feels connected and can therefore serve a broader population, hopefully more effectively,” Dr. Keith Loud, physician-in-chief for Dartmouth Health Children's, told the New Hampshire Bulletin. Earlier this month, 22 leadership team members of Dartmouth Health , Dartmouth Cancer Center and Dartmouth Health Children’s joined together as “Cycle Heroes” to support Dartmouth Health Children’s. They rode nearly 30 miles and raised an incredible $11,000 - and counting - as part of the CHaD HERO program. You can be a HERO too - learn more here chadhero.org

Drug and alcohol use is less common among New Hampshire high school students than a decade ago, but today’s students report worse mental health than in the past, according to the 2023 Youth Risk Behavior Survey. The idea of talking about climate change with patients can seem daunting. Dartmouth Health Children's Pediatrician Cheryl Anderson, MD, is working to break down the barriers through a pilot project with NH doctors. The program equips providers with tools to discuss five critical climate issues: air quality, extreme heat, severe weather, ticks and mosquitoes, and mental health.
