Assistant Secretary James D. Rodriguez joined Senator Gary Peters, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Base Policy, Dr. Laura Taylor-Kale, and Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro to announce the launch of a partnership between the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Labor focused on workforce training for defense manufacturing. The Michigan Maritime Manufacturing Initiative, also known as M3, will establish training pipelines and programs to meet the Navy’s need for thousands of new workers and jobs across Michigan.
