🌍 It’s World Geothermal Energy Day, and we just dropped 19 case studies on geothermal heat pump (GHP) systems to help you understand how they work in different climates across the United States. Whether you’re a homeowner or a business owner, these case studies could be a game-changer as you decide if GHPs are the way to go! https://lnkd.in/gi5PpZUw Geothermal energy has the potential to keep homes warm in cold climates and cool in warmer climates, all leveraging the rocks and soil beneath our feet. If you’re looking for more reasons to love this reliable energy source, we have nine: https://lnkd.in/eRPtxZsT #SustainableLiving #EnergyEfficiency #GeothermalEverywhere #WorldGeothermalEnergyDay

Meet Elise Boyd, a Clean Energy Champion who just participated in EERE’s Solar Manufacturing Internship for Leaders in Energy (SMILE) Program. During her time studying mechanical engineering, Elise felt like she was missing her spark until she found something to SMILE about when she started learning about sustainability in her classes. Elise spent the summer program as a research and development intern at Element 16 Technologies. SMILE helps students from minority-serving institutions learn more about careers in the solar industry and connects them with professionals to provide hands-on experience with industry leaders. Join the webinar at 1 p.m. ET on Oct. 17 to learn how to start your clean energy journey with EERE’s SMILE program. https://lnkd.in/eqFn4h9U #CleanEnergyChampion #SolarIndustry #CleanEnergy

CLEAN ENERGY WIN – Farmers in Iowa are putting renewable energy on the electric grid and money in their pockets when they share their agricultural land with new solar projects. Agrivoltaics is a process that co-locates solar arrays with farmland, making the best use of existing U.S. land for energy projects. EERE Chief of Staff Katie Hendrickson visited a site at Iowa State University where they’re demonstrating how these projects are adding options to our grid, increasing its reliability and resilience, while creating additional revenue for American farmers. Director, Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office, U.S. Department of Energy; and DOE Hydrogen Program Coordinator
Help celebrate #NationalHydrogenDay, October 8th, for the atomic mass of hydrogen (1.008) ... and DOE's Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), U.S. Department of Energy, along with other offices, and the Hydrogen Interagency Taskforce (HIT) are celebrating all week! It's like a birthday party for hydrogen - 10th YEAR IN A ROW, thanks to the Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Energy Association (FCHEA), Congress, and stakeholders. It’s been a monumental year for #cleanhydrogen at the US DOE since we last celebrated. Too many to highlight but just a few are: ✔️ $7B for 7 H2Hubs ✔️ $750M for 10 GW/yr domestic electrolyzer & 14 GW/yr fuel cell stack manufacturing and a new Recovery & Recycling consortium (H2CIRC) ✔️ Funding for H2 fueling infrastructure, 'station of the future', fuel cell port equipment, Hydrogen Shot, siting, permitting, safety, equitable deployment of H2 technologies, and more ✔️ $Millions more from collaborating agencies across the HIT To all the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) staff, our national lab, academic, industry, and global partners, and many more, we CELEBRATE your continued work and selfless dedication to make the clean hydrogen, and the clean energy transition, a success! #HydrogenNow #FuelCellsNow Click below to see all the ways you can help us celebrate #NationalHydrogenDay this year and please share!

Senior Advisor for Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy at U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), #Team46 Biden-Harris Climate Appointee Leader
Yesterday, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of #NorthCarolina made a visit to D.C. and I had the pleasure of hosting a meeting on behalf of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to discuss DOE opportunities that can support the Hispanic Chamber with a new initiative they are launching to educate and engage the Latino community in North Carolina and get them involved in the #cleanenergy transition! The delegation was led by Chamber President, Lorena Patterson, and over 20+ business executives and entrepreneuers who offer products and services that could support the clean energy transition. In addition we had representation from Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), U.S. Department of Energy, DOE State and Community Energy Programs (SCEP), DOE Manufacturing & Energy Supply Chains Office (MESC), DOE Office of Energy Justice and Equity, and DOE Office of Energy Jobs (OEJ) to share insights into their role in supporting the business community, including minority, underutilized, small businesses who are considered the heart beat of the American economy. According to the 2024 U.S. Energy & Employment Jobs Report (USEER), #Latino and #Hispanic workers held nearly 1/3 of the new energy jobs created in 2023, growing by 79,000 workers. Latinos are historically underrepresented in higher-wage, high-growth industries, and therefore the expansion of the Latino workforce in clean energy can be transformational. I was also impressed knowing that new projects announced since the #BIL and #IRA passed have spurred $9.78 Billion in new clean energy investment and helped create over 4,768 good-paying clean energy jobs...in NC alone! My hope is meetings like this can contribute to furthering these impacts and provide means of economic development and revitalization in many areas, as well as addressing our societal and environmental needs. Big thanks to Jamie Hackbarth, Vanessa Grisko, Zack Valdez, Ph.D., Melissa Pine, Karen Graciela Calderon, Ramon A. Ramirez-Velazquez, Henry McKoy and all those who supported the visit by the NC delegation. #ENERGY #partnerships #ChamberofCommerce #business #LeadonClimate
