The Dhaliwal-Reidy School of Accountancy’s mission is to: ·Provide top quality accounting education programs and support services, including a focus on critical thinking and business ethics that attract and graduate an excellent and diverse student body who enjoy productive and successful careers. ·Conduct significant and selective scholarly research in accounting and integrate it into our educational process. ·Encourage a collegial and supportive culture within the school, a respect and tolerance for people and their ideas, and an environment that supports success and the pursuit of excellence. ·Build mutually beneficial relationships with the business, government, and alumni communities to increase our value to our constituents and supplement our resource base.

Thank you Deloitte for inviting our students to attend the Deloitte MADE Leadership Summit at Deloitte University near Dallas, TX! Faculty members sherri silverberg & Alison Mackie, MBA, CPA Mackie attended with 25 of our students. We are incredibly grateful to have been invited to this event for the third year in a row. The conference was impactful and inspiring, from the Panel Discussion on the first day to surprise guest speaker Jordan Chiles the second day! The “Passport to Possibilities” theme was well demonstrated, as students were able to gain exposure to the accounting profession and career path options. This is a transformational event for many of our students! Thank you to our students for attending! Congratulations Karla V. Arvizu! Karla was recognized as one of Eller’s two Outstanding Scholars of the Year for 2024! These scholars exemplify all-around excellence in the college, showing a strong commitment to academics, leadership in their communities, and a drive for professional success. Karla was recognized at last week’s Salute to Excellence event. Karla is a senior majoring in accounting with a minor in Spanish. She is from Sonora, Mexico and has a passion for community service and cultural exploration. Karla is a first-generation college student and was part of our first cohort of students in the First Generation Together small sections of Intro Financial Accounting in 2022. That same year she went with our first group of students to the Deloitte MADE Leadership Summit in Texas. Karla completed an internship with Deloitte in Seattle in 2024 and has accepted another Deloitte internship in Tempe in Summer 2025. Karla plans to return to Deloitte for full time employment in Audit and Assurance after completing our MSA program. Karla is currently a student intern at Cultural and Inclusive Experiential Learning Opportunities (CIELO) as well as a member of the Eller College Dean’s Council, where she previously served as the Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She also currently serves as the Undergraduate Representative for the DEI Faculty Governance Committee. Karla previously served as the Vice President of the Eller Hispanic Honorary and has been recognized as an Eller Top Hispanic Scholar of the Year in 2021 – 2024 and a Top Collegiate Woman of the Year in 2023. Last year Karla participated in Eller Service-Learning trips to Guatemala and Costa Rica, and this past Spring she studied abroad and interned with Intercon Barcelona last Spring in Barcelona, Spain.

This event is designed to expose traditionally underrepresented students to the many ways that they can get involved with EY, at all stages of their academic and professional journey. Students heard from EY professionals who shared their personal experiences, career journeys, and what dives them to succeed. The Arizona Society of CPAs held their Professional Issues Update on campus last week. ASCPA members and faculty heard from Emily Webb, Director of Government Relations, about issues faced by the profession as well as what the ASCPA has been working on in the past year.

Congratulations to the Eller College of Management Alumni Awards recipients, including: Scott Jensen, DRSOA Advisory Board Past-Chair, winner of the Advocacy Award. This award is given to an individual who has demonstrated extraordinary efforts in promoting education and the needs of the UA. Jon Bruflat ('20 MBA), DRSOA Advisory Board Vice Chair, winner of the Slonaker Award. This award is given to an alumnus who has demonstrated continued interest in and loyalty to the UA for a minimum of five years and has taken the initiative to serve effectively on behalf of the university and who also has responded to requests for service from the university. Tripp Twyman ('18 BSBA), winner of the Young Professional Achievement Award. This award recognizes alumni aged 40 and under who have attained prominence in their field.
