  • With appropriate and effective measures, we can see how empowering women can lead to more benefits for the economy. 👥 According to the HERproject by BSR Consulting, when women are financially empowered, they tend to invest more in education, healthcare, and community, because of concerns for their children. An additional US$5-6 trillion in net value can also be generated globally if women entrepreneurs reached parity with men (Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi), 2022).     #WomenEmpowerment #ESG #GenderEquality

It was a real pleasure to make my podcasting debut with Nirav Khambhati and the team at The Blended Finance Company - sharing a little about my early career journey to impact investing and my time at Ceniarth over the last decade. It's a strange experience listening back to one-self! A few too many "um", "you know", "like" and "I guess" repetitions for my liking, but definitely a fun experience and a great chance to share Diane and Ceniarth's thinking on all things blended finance. Please do give it a listen if you can and reach out in the comments of via DM if it sparks any thoughts around collaboration.

🎧 "When it comes to Institutional Funding, I believe that we should work backwards from what's possible, understanding what their red lines & requirements are and where there is room for negotiation" - Harry Davies, Principal, Ceniarth, in a conversation with Nirav Khambhati on The Blended Finance Podcast. In this podcast, Harry highlights the roles that different types of capital providers can play in blended finance transactions and offers key insights for structuring successful mechanisms. He also shares his perspectives on the investment landscape in India. Listen to the full episode to hear first hand what Harry's mantra is when it comes to blended finance: https://lnkd.in/dg5iPyQW #TheBlendedFinancePodcast

  • At Fasanara Capital, we believe in empowering visionary female founders who are shaping the future across diverse industries. 🚀 We are honoured to support these exceptional women and their companies as they break barriers and drive innovation! Here are some remarkable female-led ventures we've had the privilege to collaborate with: 👉 Integre Trans - Transportation & Freight Forwarding Services: Founded in 2020, Integre Trans provides international transport and logistics services. Under the dynamic leadership of Zana Kel (CEO) and in partnership with one of Fasanara's women-led originators, the company has rapidly scaled, achieving nearly EUR 200 million in revenue by 2023. 👉 This Unique: Founded in 2020, This Unique is an Italian startup committed to sustainability with its range of feminine hygiene products. With 2 out of 4 female co-founders (Lisa Iannello), the company secured a revolving credit facility through one of Fasanara's fintech originators and impressively grew their revenue from EUR 120k to EUR 600k within just one year. 👉 GAYA Bike: Founded in 2021, GAYA Bike designs and produces durable, urban electric bicycles tailored for solo riders, duos, and families. Co-founded by Amelie Guicheney (CEO), GAYA received non-dilutive working capital financing through one of Fasanara's fintech originators in 2023, enabling the company to accelerate its growth. 👉 REŠETILOVS SIA: Founded in 1991, Resetilovs specializes in the manufacturing of industrial wastewater treatment plants. Led by Marina Obrazcova, the company challenges gender norms within the construction, transportation, logistics, and IT sectors, demonstrating that excellence knows no gender. We are proud to stand alongside these inspiring leaders as they pave the way for a more inclusive and innovative future. Fasanara will remain committed to supporting female entrepreneurs as they continue to redefine their industries and make a lasting impact! #FemaleEntrepreneurs #GenderEquality #WomenEmpowerment #FinancialInclusion #ESG

  • Research consistently shows that women invest less frequently than men, often due to a lack of confidence. 🙋♀️ According to HSBC UK, nearly 69% of women—about 2 in 3—don't feel confident about investing, and 27%, or 1 in 4, cite insufficient knowledge as a barrier. This hesitation can put women at a financial disadvantage, potentially limiting their economic power. HSBC UK also found that 45% of women say they don’t have enough money to invest, and 34% don’t have any savings, compared to 28% of men. Interestingly, women who do invest are more likely to follow the investment choices of friends or family—20% of women compared to 8% of men. Additionally, 55% of women believe that saving is a better option than investing, and the same percentage think you need a lot of money to invest, versus only 36% of men. The financial impact of this gap is staggering. According to BNY Mellon, if women invested at the same rate as men, there would be an additional $3.2 trillion in assets under management globally exceeding the GDP of the UK. Building stronger female networks and communities is key to closing this gap. By offering support, insights, and education, we can boost women's confidence in investing, empowering more women to take charge of their financial futures and participate fully in the economy. 💪 #GenderEquality #WomenEmpowerment #FinancialInclusion #ESG

Closing the gender gap is not only about "doing good" but also about having a "smart impact." Promoting women's empowerment, as a prerequisite for achieving gender equality, contributes to realising human rights and social development, as well as enhancing business performance and economic growth. Next month, on September 19, we will delve deeper into this topic. I will be joined by my colleague Anita Bhatia (former United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director for UN Women) and guest speakers Charlotte Keenan (Managing Director, Head of Corporate Engagement International and Global Head of 10,000 Women at Goldman Sachs) and Sarah Ranchev-Hale (Head of Imperial Enterprise Lab). • The United Nations' Development Programme (UNDP) released a Gender Equality Strategy for 2022 to 2025, a framework to advance gender equality for women and girls globally. 👥 The strategy focuses on 4 key areas: 1️⃣ Leadership and Accountability: This strategy emphasises the importance of strong leadership and accountability. It aims to ensure that senior leaders promote gender equality initiatives with clear accountability mechanisms. 2️⃣ Gender Mainstreaming:  This involves integrating gender perspectives into all aspects of the UN’s work, including policymaking, programming, and operations. It aims to ensure that gender considerations are included in all of UN activities. 3️⃣ Targeted Gender Equality Programs: These programs aim to end violence against women, promote women’s economic empowerment, and increase women’s participation in decision-making processes. 4️⃣ Institutional Culture and Capacity: It aims to foster an institutional culture that supports gender equality and encourage the adoption of practices which support an inclusive work environment. Overall, the strategy is designed to accelerate progress towards gender equality by aligning the UN's internal practices with its external advocacy and programming. It also underscores the need for collaboration with member states, civil society, and other stakeholders to achieve sustainable and transformative change for women and girls worldwide. 🌎 #GenderEquality #WomenEmpowerment #ESG #InvestInWomen

  • The UK International Women and Girls Strategy outlines plans to boost economic power for women and girls. In 2023, the UK government’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) released a strategy for women and girls, spanning 2023 to 2030. This strategy emphasises that realising the rights of women and girls is not only a moral obligation but also brings substantial economic benefits. Some of the estimated benefits include: ➡ A child whose mother can read is 50% more likely to live beyond the age of 5 and twice as likely to attend school. ➡ Girls with higher education are up to 6 times less likely to marry as children and less likely to experience violence from a partner. ➡ If women had the same participation in labour markets as men, global GDP could increase by around $28 trillion (~26%) by 2025. ➡ Women with access to sexual and reproductive health services and rights are more likely to complete their education. The UK government’s actions focus on the 3 Es: 📚 Educating girls 👭 Empowering women and girls, and championing their health and rights 💟 Ending violence To support these pillars, the UK government has set three key goals to achieve by 2030: 🏆 Goal 1: Drive the conversation – The FCDO will launch a major global campaign. 🏆 Goal 2: Lead by example – Women and girls will be at the heart of operations and investment. 🏆 Goal 3: Lead through knowledge – Enhance expertise, evidence, and research. Together, these efforts aim to create a more equitable and prosperous future for women and girls worldwide. #genderequality #esg #womenempowerment
