Thank you to Founder Boost Chicago and Jordan Bester for the discussion last night. I gave a presentation on go-to-market strategies and revenue models. The former is essentially the plan to deliver your product to the customer, while the latter is how you intend to make money from that product. Your go-to-market approach can directly affect the efficacy of your revenue model. We also reviewed Oatly 2017 go-to-market strategy. A question that came up towards the end: If you’re planning to raise money, how early should you start building relationships with potential investors? My honest answer: timing and intention are key. Start building relationships with potential investors early, know how much you need, why you need it, and stick to it. Fundraising isn’t a sprint; it’s a marathon. The why and the when you raise should be factors in how much you plan to raise. I still believe bootstrapping is the way to go but it may not be feasible for every market or business.
