“I joined GAP in 2014 as a Junior Software Engineer in Ruby on Rails, right after finishing my university internship at another company. At that moment, I was only focused on being a great developer and working on becoming a Tech Lead someday. This was my main goal. After some time I had the opportunity to be involved in some initiatives like Education and I noticed I enjoyed working with people. Learning from others, helping them in their careers, and being impacted by their experiences... I unlocked a new motivator in my professional career. My interests started to change. By working on different projects with Agile methodologies I was able to expose my leadership and management skills. I began to take some roles related to that area like Project Lead and Agile Facilitator. Of course, I was struggling here: "Do I want to pursue a Management career? What possibilities do I have? Am I ready for this?" That's when I decided to knock on the door of the Mobility Program and see my options as a Delivery Manager. I had a lot of concerns: moving from my position as a developer, having no experience as a Delivery Manager in other projects before, the timing… All those concerns were taken by the Mobility Program team, along with other departments, and we defined a transition plan. With a lot of patience, support, and hard work, I'm excited to say I've been a Delivery Manager for 3 years in different challenging and amazing projects. And 10 years now as a GAPster by doing what I love and working along with other managers and teammates who have helped me in this crazy career path journey. I'm thankful to GAP for having this kind of program that goes beyond the purposes of our careers. Things change in the blink of an eye.
