Honda Automotive Labs of Ohio (HALO) was established to support Honda’s North America product development and racing activity. The HALO Wind Tunnel brings three facility configurations into one: 1. Wide Belt Moving Ground Plane (MGP) 2. 5-Belt MGP 3. Aeroacoustics / Wind Only While HALO’s wind tunnel supports both aerodynamics and aeroacoustics for Honda programs, we are excited to extend the opportunity for your company to take advantage of this facilities advanced capabilities in a wind only or aeroacoustic configuration. (Support of use in aerodynamic configuration is still under investigation.) We are exploring how best to provide for outside customers as soon as Fall 2023+. Last Friday, I toured the HALO Wind Tunnel! This was such an amazing experience, and it was interesting to see more of the R&D side of Honda. I am midway though my summer co-op in Production Engineering, and am looking forward to continued learning and experience in the automotive industry.

On Friday, May 3, the team at HALO had the opportunity to host 30 individuals as part of COSI's week long Science Festival. Their experience included a tour of the facility followed by an aerodynamic challenge. The group was divided into three teams. Each team worked together to determine which three parts they wanted to apply to the test vehicle to reduce it's aerodynamic drag. Each team's test plan was submitted, and while the tests were running, participants were educated on the variables that influence drag and how the smallest changes can make a significant impact. The event was a huge success! Everyone walked away with a better understanding of the impact that various parts have on the drag on their vehicle. Thank you COSI and for all who attended.
