Exciting things are happening at Hotel Haya! 🎉 We’re proud to announce the appointment of Laura Maldonado as our new General Manager. A Puerto Rico native, Laura brings a wealth of experience, having worked with world-renowned brands like Wyndham and Hilton, and most recently serving as GM at the iconic four-star Heathman Hotel in Portland another Aparium property. There, she led a full-scale transformation of the property and developed a company-wide action plan for sustainable growth. “I’m honored to join Hotel Haya,” Laura shared. “My focus has always been on building strong, collaborative teams that blend seasoned expertise with fresh perspectives, ensuring an exceptional experience for both associates and guests. I am passionate about fostering talent within the hospitality industry and creating memorable, nostalgic events that resonate with our community.” At Hotel Haya, she looks forward to reintroducing cherished traditions while also showcasing local businesses, strengthening our ties with the community and creating a welcoming environment for all! We’re so excited to have her lead the team and foster new experiences and connections in Ybor City!

We’re proud to introduce Kal Harris as the new Director of Food and Beverage at Hotel Haya! With over 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Kal’s journey has taken him from his hometown of Buffalo, NY, to the vibrant dining scene of Tampa. He’s set to bring fresh energy and innovation to our culinary offerings at Flor Fina and Café Quiquiriqui. Kal’s impressive career includes launching new concepts and cultivating exceptional dining experiences, and now he’s ready to elevate what we offer here at Hotel Haya. We’re thrilled to have him on board and can’t wait for you to experience his influence firsthand!

A little photo recap from artist Michael Vahl's 'Euphoria Solo Art Exhibiton' we hosted at Hotel Haya earlier this month. We saw over 150 guests come for this show and to support local art in Tampa.   The night featured local artists in our foyer during cocktail hour till the ballroom opened up to reveal 15 portrait paintings from Michael Vahl. The evening began with attendees being serenaded by a 4 piece band then we got to see a curated dance performance that ended by the dancers revealing Vahl’s final two paintings. Following the dance performance, guests danced to the tunes by DJ OB7.   Haya is proud to be a host for local artists to flourish and showcase their talent in our space. Stay tuned for more artist pop ups throughout this year by some of Tampa Bay’s very best. This event was planned and curated by our Director of Lifestyle, Natalie Wolfe!

Momentous occasions in our lives act as beacons in our memories. Yesterday will forever shine bright in my memory, as I was able to actively support a historic endeavor in Tampa Bay.   In Ybor City, at the fantastic Hotel Haya in a packed standing room only press conference, the newly formed Super League Women's Professional Soccer Team right here in Tampa Bay was officially announced! As a passionate advocate for women's sports, it is truly an honor to serve on the Super League Tampa Bay Sun Advisory Board for this incredible initiative.   This marks a significant milestone in the growth and recognition of women's soccer, not just in Tampa but across the nation. The establishment of a dedicated women's team within the United Soccer League (USL) Super League is a commitment to fostering gender equality and providing a platform for talented female athletes to shine.   The profound impact of women's sports cannot be overstated. It inspires countless individuals, breaks barriers, and empowers future generations of athletes to pursue their dreams with unwavering determination.   This team will undoubtedly become a beacon of excellence and a source of pride for Tampa. It will unite our community, instill a sense of belonging, and ignite a passionate fanbase that will rally behind our incredible athletes. This team will not only showcase exceptional talent but also serve as a driving force for positive change, empowering women both on and off the field.   I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in making this dream a reality. Starting with Darryl Shaw, Jeff Fox and David Laxer, for taking their lifelong love of soccer as the spark for an investment in women's soccer, investing in the potential of our community, promoting inclusivity, and creating opportunities for talented women to showcase their skills on a grand stage. Also, thanks to USL CEO, Alec Papadakis, USL President, Amanda Vandervort for providing the platform for these athletes to reach the pinnacle of their sport. Thanks as well to my fellow advisory board members and the one woman army, Amber Brinkley for dedicating their time and expertise to this initiative, your commitment to advancing women's sports is commendable.   As we embark on this journey together, I encourage all professionals, businesses, and community members to support this groundbreaking venture. Let's rally behind our team scheduled to begin play in August 2024, make those deposits for season tickets, spread the word, and amplify the accomplishments of our new team on and off the field. Together, we can write a new chapter in the history of women's soccer, setting the stage for a more inclusive and equitable future. I am excited to contribute to the success of the Super League Tampa Bay, and I am immensely proud to be part of this advisory board.
