Member Hydrogen Canada Corp. (“HCC”) has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with KOREA SOUTHERN POWER CO., LTD. (KOSPO) to jointly develop a clean ammonia production and export business in Canada. HCC is seeking to build and operate a 1 million tonne per annum clean ammonia facility in the Alberta Industrial Heartland and support the development of the export facilities required to transfer the product to markets in Asia. HCC has completed Pre-FEED and is planning on entering FEED in early 2025. The Parties have agreed to support the ongoing development of HCC’s project and review financial and commercial support. KOSPO is set to conduct due diligence on the HCC project as it considers the investment and off-taking opportunities. Should KOSPO decide to proceed with the investment, HCC will become the first project globally funded by a Korean GenCo for the clean hydrogen and ammonia energy transition. ProtonH2 is innovating to unlock hydrogen’s potential. Here’s how: As hydrogen emerges as a cornerstone of the global energy transition, challenges remain—particularly in scaling production affordably and flexibly. Traditional methods like electrolysis and steam methane reforming (SMR) face hurdles, including high CAPEX, complex processes, and limited adaptability to changing market demands. ProtonH2 is solving these issues with a groundbreaking approach that redefines how hydrogen is produced and commercialized. Here’s how we tackle the barriers: 1. Lower CAPEX Requirements Hydrogen production has historically required massive upfront investments. ProtonH2 significantly reduces these costs by leveraging existing assets, such as end-of-life oil wells, in our hydrogen production system. This ensures scalability without the prohibitive costs associated with traditional processes. 2. Low Production Costs through Efficient Energy Use Energy consumption is a major cost driver in hydrogen production. Unlike traditional methods, our technology requires significantly less energy and eliminates the need for costly catalysts and high-purity water, ensuring that hydrogen can be produced at a low cost. 3. Flexible Commercialization Paths ProtonH2’s hydrogen production technology is highly versatile, meeting a range of market needs: • Clean electricity generation via generators or turbines • Local industry applications (e.g., agriculture, refineries) • Hydrogen for emerging markets via purification (e.g. transportation) This flexibility allows us to customize production for specific industries, maximizing hydrogen’s value and reach. 4. Scalable Production Aligned with Demand Balancing supply and demand is critical. Our approach allows us to scale production incrementally, adding wells as demand grows. This ensures we only produce hydrogen when needed, avoiding overproduction and waste. Our model aligns production with offtake agreements, creating an efficient and demand-driven solution. --- ProtonH2 is setting a new standard for hydrogen production. Our low-cost, efficient, and flexible solution makes hydrogen accessible and aligned with market needs. We’re proud to play a key role in driving the energy transition forward. ProtonH2 welcomes the opportunity to work with stakeholders to unlock hydrogen's full potential. #Hydrogen #EnergyTransition #CleanEnergy #Innovation #Sustainability #ProtonH2 #NetZero #ScalableSolutions
