Traditional plastics, which can take up to 500 years to decompose, contribute massively to pollution and release harmful chemicals into the environment. Compostable tableware, made from materials like cornstarch, bagasse, and bamboo, decomposes within 3-6 months, significantly cutting down landfill waste and reducing environmental toxins. Studies show that adopting compostable options can decrease carbon footprint by up to 50%, supporting a healthier and more sustainable ecosystem. Craste addresses India's 500 million tonnes of annual crop waste by converting it into particle boards for furniture and packaging, reducing CO2 emissions by 30kg per 8ft x 4ft panel. Their Morena manufacturing hub is already market-competitive, with plans for 10 more factories across India. Singh's earlier non-profit work with Gramiksha and research on biofuel companies informed Craste's economically viable and eco-friendly solutions, drawing international interest from agrarian countries.
