I’m excited to share the highlights of my transformative summer as a Data Scientist Intern with the Lexis+ AI team at LexisNexis, a part of the RELX group. Over the past few months, I had the privilege of contributing to the cutting-edge development and implementation of Lexis+ AI across the UK, Canada, and Europe. This AI-powered tool is revolutionizing the legal field by providing accurate, authoritative content that enhances the efficiency of legal professionals. Here’s a snapshot of the incredible progress my team and I achieved together: 🚀 Enhancing AI Performance: Spearheaded initiatives that boosted Lexis+ AI’s model accuracy while ensuring zero hallucination. Through extensive fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and the integration of reranking algorithms, we optimized search results across a vast 3.8 PB of global content. ⚙️ Streamlining Pipelines: Increased development cycle efficiency by over 90% by automating evaluation pipelines using Pandas, PyTorch, and Matplotlib. This not only improved model output accuracy by 5% but also allowed for seamless processing of SME feedback across multiple testing phases. 🧠 Tackling Complex Challenges: Played a key role in researching, building, and deploying models trained on 138 billion documents, with 2.2 million new legal entries added daily. My work addressed intricate problems in NLP, ML, and information retrieval, ensuring robust system performance within a dynamic mono repository environment. 🤝 Driving Collaboration: Engaged with key stakeholders, simplifying complex data science concepts for those with diverse backgrounds. My team’s collaborative efforts helped integrate data science solutions into the decision-making process, fostering a culture of innovation and shared success. A special thank you to my manager Hanane Mirza, my onboarding supervisor David Mullins, my mentor Diksha Paliwal, and my amazing teammates, including Priyanka Budavi Joseph Antony Vaikath, Abhishek Najbile, Sudhakar Nori, and many others. I’m also grateful to Bob Perry and Bert Staub for the insightful feedback and encouragement on my final projects. A big thank you to everyone who has helped me learn and grow throughout this rewarding journey. Thank you to Shemira Gosal and Satyra Jenkins for orchestrating such a seamless and enriching internship experience. I’m fortunate to have worked alongside talented interns nationwide, each contributing to this journey with their unique expertise. This internship has deepened my passion for data science, and I’m eager to apply the knowledge and skills I’ve gained to the next chapter of my career.
