LMA Northeast Sponsor Spotlight: Legal Internet Solutions Inc. What is the product/service that you offer and how can it benefit the membership within the LMA Northeast?: LISI is a digital marketing agency that works exclusively with law firms. We create digital marketing solutions (outsourced marketing, website design, date-driven SEO, social media strategy, multimedia content creation) for lawyers and legal services providers, delivering custom strategies that drive growth and success. LISI is led by a dynamic team encompassing more than 148 years of legal industry insight, with lawyers, former in-house law firm marketers, cutting-edge technologists, ingenious designers, and data enthusiasts. Why did you choose to partner with the LMA Northeast?: We were founded–and remain in Philadelphia, so the proximity to LMA events made sense. While we partner with other LMA regions, our involvement with LMA Northeast is significant (both as volunteers and sponsors) and it will always be the greatest source of education, business contacts, and fellowship. How long have you been involved with the LMA?: Since 2014.

LMA Northeast Member Spotlight: Lauren McGovern, Practice Group Marketing Manager (M&A), Cooley LLP Tell us how you got involved with legal marketing. How long have you been involved in the industry?: I did not know legal marketing existed until I saw a posting on Craigslist (yes, really) for a marketing assistant position at an IP firm in Boston in 2015. My background was in general marketing, so the industry was completely new to me at the time. I’ve been part of the industry for almost a decade now. What’s the best piece of advice you received throughout your career?: I am a bit of a rebel so instead of one piece of advice, I will give you two. (1) Never stop learning. Be a sponge. Ask all the questions. Identify what you don’t know and learn it. I’ve even made flashcards to learn terminology I didn’t know. (2) Build relationships early and often—whether that be with people in member organizations that you can mentor or can mentor you, your teammates, the attorney’s admins (the amount of gratitude I have for their help over the years cannot be understated), or with your attorneys so you can better understand their practice and help them drive revenue. Legal is a relationship-driven business, and you are best served always being in that mindset. What is your favorite thing about LMA?: The people. I have met some incredible people over the years through LMA. People that have helped give me industry insight. People that have knowledge shared about how they handled similar situations to mine. I love that knowledge is so easily given and received in this community, and that people are happy to share their lessoned learned with other members. It truly makes LMA special. What's your favorite book/movie/TV show, and why do you love it?: Mad Men is my favorite show. It interweaves drama, humor, and historical events, the writing is impeccable, and the story focuses on character development (which it completely nails).
