Excited to share some fantastic news from Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc.! We're investing over $80 million in our Warrendale, PA campus through Project Horizon. This includes building a new Advanced Switchgear Facility to boost production of medium and high-voltage vacuum and gas circuit breakers. We're also enhancing our existing facilities with a state-of-the-art Power Electronics Center and Lab. This will expand our Mitsubishi Critical Critical Power Solutions business, developing next-generation power electronics designs which will help us minimize downtime for our customers. These investments strengthen and diversify our business portfolio, enhancing our technical leadership and production capabilities across all MEPPI products. We're committed to improving our performance and meeting our customers' needs. A big thank you to our customers for your continued trust. Exciting times ahead!
MEPPI, and our parent company, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation are investing $86 million to construct a new advanced switchgear factory and expand MEPPI’s existing power electronics business within the Pittsburgh region. The new approximately 160,000 square foot advanced switchgear factory will initially focus on the production of both vacuum and gas circuit breakers. As the factory scales its operations, it will transition to predominantly manufacturing vacuum circuit breakers, aligning with MEPPI’s commitment to meet the needs of our Utility customers and support the nation’s broader decarbonization efforts. At capacity, it is anticipated that the new facility will employ more than 200 full-time workers. Per Tricia Breeger, MEPPI President & CEO, “At MEPPI, we lead with innovation. By investing in a state-of-the-art switchgear factory, we will better serve our customers, and we will significantly advance the production of critical components that strengthen both distribution and transmission grids while driving new technologies forward in support of the nation’s decarbonization initiatives. Our switchgear and power electronics solutions are essential for meeting the growing demand for electricity, from powering homes and businesses to supporting the rapid expansion of data centers.” MEPPI would like to express our gratitude to the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development (DCED) for a $4 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant and a $2.75 million Pennsylvania First grant.
