A healthy workplace supports workers’ #MentalHealth and includes care for those with substance use disorders—a significant issue among construction workers whose physical jobs result in higher rates of injury and #opioid use and misuse than in other industries. With high demand for construction jobs across the country, it’s more important than ever to support safe and healthy #workplaces and to ensure that these jobs align with the U.S. Department of Labor's good jobs principles( https://lnkd.in/gvFmYA9a). Employer Assistance & Resource Network on Disability Inclusion (EARN)'s new online resource on this topic offers further information, safety guidelines, support strategies and more. https://lnkd.in/gu2s6rbg
Office of Disability Employment Policy
Government Administration
Promoting good jobs for people with disabilities, through effective workplace policies, practices and tools
About us
The Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) is the only non-regulatory federal agency that promotes policies and coordinates with employers and all levels of government to increase workplace success for people with disabilities. ODEP's mission is to develop and influence policies and practices that increase the number and quality of employment opportunities for people with disabilities. To fulfill this mission, ODEP promotes the adoption and implementation of ODEP policy strategies and effective practices — meaning those that ODEP has developed and/or validated — that will impact the employment of people with disabilities. ODEP's approach is to drive systems and practice changes by disseminating ODEP policy strategies and effective practices, sharing information, and providing technical assistance to government agencies, service providers and non-governmental entities, as well as public and private employers. Our vision is a world in which people with disabilities have unlimited employment opportunities.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (#ADA), passed 34 years ago, spurred significant progress across America for the inclusion of people with disabilities across all aspects of community life. Today we celebrate the anniversary of this major accomplishment and honor the advocates who worked relentlessly to bring the promises of this law into reality. We also recognize that progress has been uneven, particularly in the workplace. A stubborn gap in employment persists in America between people with disabilities and those without. As is often said, employment is the unfinished business of the ADA. We are committed to carrying out the important work that remains, especially in helping disabled workers get ahead through employment in good jobs.
