🎉 Exciting News! 🎉 Last week we welcomed 20 new adult learners to Per Scholas Greater Boston's #Cybersecurity program! Over the next 15 weeks, they’ll gain hands-on experience preparing for roles as Cybersecurity Analysts, SOC Analysts, Network Security Engineers, System Administrators, & Splunk Engineers/Analysts. Our curriculum will equip them to: 🔒 Apply security methodologies for vulnerability and threat assessment 👩🏽💻 Evaluate and enhance security operations to prevent breaches 🔧 Administer and secure key network devices (routers, switches, WAPs) 📊 Apply SIEM solutions and build advanced Splunk dashboards to monitor activity and visualize findings 📁 Analyze network traffic and security incidents to identify risks and mitigation steps 👨🏽💻 Here’s to the journey ahead – we can’t wait to see all they accomplish! 💻 #CyberJobs #PerScholas #FutureOfTech #CareerTraining #TechCareers

Team members and alumni were thrilled to spend the day learning from leading tech experts and networking with fellow tech professionals. The highlight was recent CompTIA CySA+ certified #cyber alums Maya Chandler and Tyrone McIntosh sharing their stories and Per Scholas experiences with nearly 500 attendees from the mainstage. As Ty said during his remarks, "A briefing from the White House stated that there are 500,000 cybersecurity jobs open...if you look at the protection of data as a dam, then there are 500,000 holes in that dam and they need people to fill them. What Per Scholas does is fill that need." Yesterday, we attended the 2024 Mass Cybersecurity Forum at the Sheraton Needham. Our very own Heather Kay "H. Kay" Howard, Managing Director, and Cyber alum Kewaun C., joined a powerful panel discussion on alternative pathways into cybersecurity, sharing insights on building diverse talent pipelines. 💼 "Companies and managers are requiring years of experience for entry-level positions and can't find who they're looking for because they don't exist," H. Kay pointed out. Agreeing with her, Co-panelist Alex Billen-Calhoun, Director of IT Risk Management at The Cengage Group, emphasized the need to hire early professionals, advising to "...get them in and develop them." It was especially inspiring to see several recent Per Scholas graduates—now launching their careers in tech—attending and making meaningful connections.
