⭐ I participated in my first-ever hackathon provided by Technica and won for my category: Best Beginner Hack! Technica is the world’s largest hackathon for underrepresented genders in tech. Filled with educational workshops and activities, the hackathon was more than just coding a project for submission but also a safe space to learn more about skills in the technology field.
⭐ For my project, I received inspiration from my attendance at the “API Fundamentals” webinar presented by Lillian Nose where we delved into the basics of APIs and the fact that it is applied to discord bots. As a current Hunter College MLS student, I run the “Hunter College MLS” server for all students within our program. Accordingly, I decided to build my first rough draft of a designated discord bot for the server. The bot is capable of saying hello, creating study sessions, and retrieving jokes from a public API presented during Lilian’s webinar. In the future, I would like to code a command that would allow the bot to retrieve practice questions from the NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist Exam to aid fellow students with their studying for licensure.
⭐ A huge thank you to Technica for holding this event for people like me who have had little to no experience in tech but are able to obtain the resources to get started on their journey. I would also like to thank Lillian and Postman for providing the Postman API Fundamentals Student Expert certification which allows me to confidently state that I understand the basics of interacting with APIs on the platform.

💫 I attended a Skillful.ly webinar called "The Power of Data with Business Analytics" presented by Gauthier Vasseur where we delved into the basics of how we can get started with analyzing big data. The webinar taught me how to go about creating data analytic projects while keeping in mind:
1. Why I want to do data: It provides well-informed insights to add value to conversations and lead to better-prepared initiatives.
2. Asking the right question: Before starting your project, you must apply your knowledge to determine the business challenge you want to face.
3. Make your data FAIR: Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable
