It costs how much to send money to Africa?! 🤯 The average remittance fees globally currently sits at 6.2%, according to the World Bank. In some areas of Africa, the average transaction fee is 7.4%. Not only is remittance high, but there is a distinct lack of transparency when it comes to fee structures so many individuals and businesses will have to pay additional fees before and after the transaction. One of the UN Sustainable Development Goals aims to reduce the amount paid in remittance to 3% by 2030. Hitting this target is crucial, which when paired with more transparency across the industry, will lead to a fairer cross-border payments system. #PaymentsInAfrica #Remittance

Payments in Africa are only 1% built - what does that mean? According to the official figures, the digital payments market in Africa is predicted to reach US$195.5bn this year. Globally, this places Africa only ahead of Oceania even though Africa's population is 32 times bigger. The digital payments market in Africa is likely much bigger but the fragmented ecosystem of systems and providers makes it difficult to accurately track volumes. This is why more work needs to be done, to deliver reliable and fast digital payments. #PaymentsInAfrica #DigitalPayments

Rafiki is so much more than just a Lion King reference 🦁 Rafiki means friend, companion, or confidant in Swahili. It is someone who will be there for you throughout the circle of life, a trusted aide and someone who becomes the equivalent of a family member. We embody the full meaning of rafiki, as your trusted partner and ready ear. Hakuna matata, or there are no worries, with Rafiki (at least when it comes to international payments) #OurStory #PaymentsInAfrica

Hi, we are Rafiki 👋 For 7 years, NALA has been building payments for the next billion. Existing payment rails in Africa weren’t delivering the speed and reliability our customers needed - so we built our own. We help global businesses transfer money instantly to Africa. The majority of RAFIKI transactions arrive within minutes - the industry average is 1-2 working days. Payments in Africa are just 1% built - we're here to change that #Introduction #MeetRafiki #Payments
