Today, on World Stroke Day, we reflect on one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. Over 12 million people will experience their first stroke this year, with more than half losing their lives and many survivors left permanently disabled. A common misconception is that strokes primarily affect older individuals, but stroke can impact anyone at any age—16% of cases occur in people under the age of 50. Signs and Symptoms – Remember to act F.A.S.T.: Face – Can the person smile? Has their mouth or eye drooped? Arms – Can the person raise both arms and keep them there? Speech – Can the person speak clearly, or is their speech slurred? Time – If you observe any of these signs, call emergency services immediately. Today we recognize International Day of Care and Support to honor those who empower and support others. Today serves as a reminder of the profound impact caregivers, allies, and supporters have on individuals, families, communities and workplaces. Many people in the firm are caregivers and supporters whether at home, as mentors or perhaps through their pro bono work. We want to acknowledge and thank them all for what they do. #InternationalDayOfCare #Care #Probono

To recognise and celebrate Black History Month, Reed Smith’s Multicultural Network (MCN) hosted an incredible evening at The May Fair Hotel, featuring special guest George the Poet. George the Poet, an award-winning spoken word performer, critically acclaimed recording artist, and social commentator, shared two inspirational poems and discussed his childhood, his journey in the creative arts, and his reflections on this year’s Black History Month theme, ‘Reclaiming Narratives’. The event was a powerful gathering of our Reed Smith community, celebrating Black achievements while underscoring the vital importance of owning and sharing our own narratives. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the night an inspiring and unforgettable celebration. As we continue this journey, let’s remember the power of reclaiming our narratives and uplifting the voices that have long been unheard. #BlackHistoryMonth #ReclaimingNarratives #GeorgeThePoet #DEI
