Sidley represented Geely Auto International, a leading new energy vehicle manufacturer in China, on the distribution of American Depositary Shares of ZEEKR极氪 to Geely Auto’s qualifying shareholders in connection with the spin-off listing of ZEEKR on the New York Stock Exchange. ZEEKR, a producer of luxury battery electric vehicles, raised more than US$440 million in the transaction, making it the largest U.S. IPO of China concept stocks in the past three years. Sidley is representing electric vehicle maker Waev in a first-of-its kind legal action against the U.S. Department of the Treasury challenging the IRS rule that excluded the company’s low-speed GEM line of electric cars from the Inflation Reduction Act’s #electricvehicle tax credit program. The company is also challenging a 50-year-old Environmental Protection Agency regulation defining a “motor vehicle” as part of the dispute.
