In general, forming processes are composed of several mutual depending process steps, such as pre-forming, trimming and the final forming. Each step changes the stuctural properties, via, e. g., damage, sheet-metal thining and material hardening. Thus, at best, a holistic simulations needs to account for all the individual steps, thereby, transfering the resulting properties from one stage to another in a single simulation model. Ansys Forming helps you to set up complex multi-stage simulation models for LS-DYNA and to analyse the simulation results.

In Ansys Sherlock 2024 R2, we have several workbench updates: State Awareness: When making certain model updates in Sherlock, Ansys Workbench will update the state of affected downstream systems to reflect that they are now out-of-date. Additionally, PCB transformations performed in Ansys Mechanical can now be automatically tracked and leveraged by the Workbench Sherlock (Post) system. These features will help users to reduce manual data handling, streamline their workflows and improve simulation accuracy and efficiency. Complicated geometries often pose a real challenge when it comes to meshing, making it nearly impossible to determine the right mesh sizes beforehand. As a result, meshes might fail to capture critical stress and deformation fields during analysis. This is where Ansys Mechanical’s Geometry Preserving Mesh Adaptivity (GPAD) steps in: 1) It leverages Ansys’s powerful meshing capabilities and nonlinear adaptivity. 2) Automatically refines the mesh to the initial geometry, rather than the mesh boundaries, to adaptively enhance solution accuracy. The outcome is precision and accuracy, no matter how complex your geometry may be. #Meshing #Engineering #Innovation #StructuralAnalysis

Large deformations are challenging for any simulation software. LS-DYNA provides several approach to tackle these. In the this simulation, the Element-free Galerking (EFG) together with remeshing strategies an implicit time-advancement scheme was used to ensure a smooth and efficient simulation experience.

We're happy to announce that the Adaptive ISPG ACT for LS-DYNA is now available on the Ansys App Store! What is Adaptive ISPG? Adaptive ISPG (Incompressible Smooth Particle Galerkin) is a technology, developed by Ayush Kumar and Hrushikesh Mapari, and released with LS-DYNA version R15 that tackles complex free-surface flow problems involving viscosity, surface tension, and contact angles in liquid. It’s especially powerful for challenges like solder reflow, thermal gel dispense and spread, adhesive flow, and compression molding—applications which can be challenging to traditional CFD solvers. Key Benefits: 1) Seamless simulation set-up & solving directly within the user-friendly Ansys Mechanical interface 2) Fast ramp-up for existing Mechanical users 3) Easy to follow documentation, training, and examples to ensure a shallow learning curve for new users Use Cases: 1) Solder Reflow & Defects 2) Adhesive Flow Problems: -Thermal Gel Dispensing & Spreading -Epoxy Die Attach Process 5) Underfill Simulation 6) Compression Molding Check out the Adaptive ISPG extension now on the Ansys App Store! #Ansys #engineer #mechanicalengineer #innovation
