There's a ton of things you can make from a certain biomass type, and conversely there are incredibly many bioresource options to match your intended application. How do you even begin to make (fast) decisions in such a complex domain? In a collaborative effort, together with colleagues from a.o. the COST Action 20133 FULLRECO4US, Britt Segers reviewed the links between biomass diversity and its valorization potential. Most importantly, this work suggests an interesting approach to support fast decision making, looking a state variables rather than process variables. Thrilled to share our latest work on Lithlium ion battery recycling published today in Royal Society of Chemistry Journal, RSC Sustainability. Graphite is a critical material with highly energy-intensive production. We, Magdalena Titirici and Anna Hankin, addresses the challenges in recycling graphite from industrial LIB black mass, paving the way for more eco-friendly, circular LIB supply chains.

All papers included were personally selected by Green Chemistry's Board Members André Bardow (ETH Zürich) and Serenella Sala (European Commission - Joint Research Centre), Green Chemistry's Associate Editor Luigi Vaccaro (Università degli Studi di Perugia) and Green Chemistry's Chair Javier Pérez-Ramírez (ETH Zürich) The collection includes, but is not limited to, examples of application of green chemistry principles as well as methods for measuring their efficacy in improving chemicals or in selecting a preferred alternative, such as E factor, green analytical procedure Index (GAPI) processes, process mass intensity, eco-scale, techno-economic analysis, life-cycle assessment, carbon balance analysis.
