The Machinery Department at SwRI has over 65 years of experience performing applied R&D and engineering services to advance machinery and power systems for all applications in energy conversion, transport, and storage. We perform engineering analyses and field testing for machinery systems including pulsation and vibration, piping thermal, transient/surge, root cause, rotordynamics, pressure containment, heat transfer, aerodynamic/structural design or evaluation, thermodynamic cycles/heat balance, technoeconomics, and optimization. We also design, build, and test machinery and system components prototypes utilizing our onsite lab facilities with drivetrains and open/closed-loop piping with test stands at the kW- an MW-scale up to 16 MW drive power, up to 70 MW of heat addition, and 30 MW of cooling. We develop solutions for clients in the energy, aerospace, manufacturing, and government energy/defense clients.
