Now that their formal learning journey has completed, how does Tandem help our leaders in their day-to-day?   Through our unique blend of executive and peer coaching, they have challenged themselves – and one another – to ask tough questions about how they recenter leadership and change how they engage with others.   Three of our brilliant leaders share their newly gained insights into themselves:   🇬🇼 Francis Peter-Battal, Head of United Nations Resident Coordinator Office, Guinea-Bissau 🇧🇴 Emma Donlan, Country Director, Plan International Bolivia 🇸🇱 Foday Bassie Swaray, Executive Director, ActionAid Sierra Leone   #TandemLeaders #LearningAndDevelopment #Leadership

Decolonising leadership – illustrated! 🎨 We kicked off our leaders' closing retreat in Bangkok with a thought-provoking debate on how to decolonise leadership, presented here by the talented Matthew Buck at Drawnalism Ltd.   ODI's Director of Global Advisory Sasha Kapadia, who oversees Tandem, chaired a conversation with three impressive speakers: journalist Heba Aly, leadership consultant Carlos Esteban Mejia Solano, and WWF's Alice Ruhweza. The discussion was followed by a lively Q&A with our leaders.   We heard honest reflections about the challenges of decolonising leadership in the humanitarian and development sector. These were countered with ideas for how to move from talk to action, encouraging our leaders to press on.   The illustrations, captured in real time as the discussion unfolded, reveal our key takeaways.   #TandemLeaders #Decolonisation #LearningAndDevelopment #Leadership

#TandemLeaders #LearningAndDevelopment #Leadership

It has now been a week since we said farewell to our first cohort of leaders in Bangkok.    The group – who between them work in over 25 countries – are back to their high-pressure day jobs, equipped with new skills and connections that will boost them as leaders.   Their Tandem journey isn't over yet though! For the next three months, they will continue to receive personalised support and guidance from their executive coaches, encouraging them to stay true to their leadership goals.    Here are some more photo highlights from an inspiring week in Bangkok. 📸   #TandemLeaders #Leadership #LearningAndDevelopment

Last week, I participated in the final retreat of the Tandem Leadership program in Bangkok, Thailand. I am honored to be part of this cohort of 30 humanitarian and development leaders from all over the world. It has been an inspiring week filled with reflections and powerful discussions as part of our Tandem learning journey to become better leaders in this challenging sector, doing our part to build a better world. Thanks to my colleagues, our coaches, and the ODI team for providing a safe learning environment for our leadership growth!

Last week, I participated in The Tandem’s Executive leadership programme closing retreat in Thailand. This transformative journey began in December 2023 with an initiation retreat in Dar es Salaam. Over the past six months, I’ve engaged in intense and interesting learning and collaboration with peers and gained valuable insights from subject matter experts and executive coaching. From grounding in wellbeing and resilience, to investigating power, positionality and trust building, to exploring decolonized leadership, influencing without authority, to leading and managing change and much more, this journey has been nothing short of amazing.   It has been an honour to connect with global leaders from other international NGOs, national NGOs and the UN. Working alongside the outstanding teams from ODI and MRG has been a privilege   I am excited to apply these insights not only within my organization but also across the sector.  #TandemLeaders

They now see immense value in pausing to look inwards before acting. In so doing, they better understand their context, position and priorities, allowing for a more informed response.    #TandemLeaders #TandemTips #LearningAndDevelopment #Leadership
