Reach every corner of your community with intentional, word-of-mouth outreach. In New Zealand’s capital, TEDxWellington invested in people-powered marketing for its first event in five years. After re-building a team with both experienced and new members, the team set out on the town with a comprehensive outreach plan. Utilizing everything from social media to plenty of emails, team members contacted hundreds of organizations — government offices, schools, professional networks and more — to connect with potential attendees, volunteers and partners. One tangible result of the extensive efforts was a marketplace at the event, where 20 local vendors showcased their offerings with attendees through products and interactive experiences that included jewelry-making workshops and giveaways. TEDxers showed up strong for the first-ever TEDNext! We’re proud to share that nearly 200 event organizers, repping over 40 countries, joined the new TED conference that also qualifies them to host larger local gatherings. 🥳 This incredible cohort enjoyed a jam-packed week of taking in ideas inside and outside the theater, participating in interactive workshops about everything from event production to beekeeping and, most importantly, just spending time together. TED Conferences took over Pullman Yards — a train repair facility-turned-event space — for our newest conference focused on the future you.
