This is primarily achieved through their annual scholarship program, which provides $5,000 scholarships to students interning in member firms. Cancer is relentless. It touches us in ways that change our lives forever. Today, our colleague Canan Oral shares how over 18 months, she faced the heartbreak of losing three close friends to the fierce grips of cancer. Her story is a profound reminder of the devastating toll this disease takes and why our fight against it is so important. Canan’s experience mirrors that of millions of others around the world, but it’s not just about loss. It’s about the strength and hope that drives us all to make a difference. This summer, to kick cancer’s arse once and for all, we are taking on an official Guinness World Records title attempt for the Most Participants in a Static Cycle Relay to raise money for Cancer Research UK (CRUK). 🌟 We had an incredible two days with University of Mississippi and The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers filled with inspiration, networking, and exploration. The event was part of The Council Foundation’s insurance certificate program tailored for students from HBCUs in Mississippi. 🙌 A big shoutout to our 5 founding partners: Brown & Riding, Gallagher, Cadence Insurance, A Gallagher Company, McGriff, and Ross & Yerger Insurance, Inc.! Special thanks to Dr. Andre Liebenberg, Joel Wood, and Jeff Rodriguez for their valuable contributions. 🗓️ Day 1 Highlights: 🎓 17 students from 4 HBCUs in Mississippi visited our office in Washington D.C. 🏢 Employer partners showcased their firms and shared internship program details. 🗣️ Students presented themselves and their schools, helping to create a good match between the students and the broker firms for their internship 💬 "Speed dating" style conversations allowed students to engage with each employer. 🍴 Fun dinner with more networking. 🗓️ Day 2 Adventures: 📸 Photos in front of the White House and exploration of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture 🤝 Capitol Hill meeting with Hon. Hakeem Jeffries, Democratic party leader, and member of the Congressional Black Caucus, organized by our GA team and Joel Kopperud. 🏛️ Capitol Hill tour 🌆 Rest of the day spent exploring D.C., creating lasting memories. 👏 A huge thank you to everyone who made these two days unforgettable!
