Karen and Jason Van Tatenhove, who was formerly involved with the Oath Keepers extremist group and is now a distinguished author, journalist and advocate against extremism, discussed the rise of antisemitism; how extremism is becoming mainstreamed; what is luring people to hate groups; and why the need for Holocaust education has never been more critical. We are proud to have launched The Paul, Weiss Center to Combat Hate at an event hosted at the firm’s New York office this week. During the event, litigation partners Dan Kramer and Karen Dunn — co-executive directors of the Center — along with firm Chairman Brad Karp and litigation partner and former U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch, remarked on Paul, Weiss’s nearly century-long commitment to advancing civil rights and combatting racism and xenophobia. The Center takes this work a step further by facilitating even closer partnerships with co-counsel and civil rights partners to combat white nationalist and other hate-based extremism through the court system and other avenues of legal advocacy, with the goal of safeguarding vulnerable communities and groups and fostering a more just and equitable society. #antihate
