Cadastral and boundary surveying is crucial for identity, livelihoods and community stability, especially in rural areas of Uganda. In 2023, the Ugandan Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development introduced new regulations requiring a high-precision standard of 60 centimeters for surveying customary land holdings. This posed a challenge and an opportunity for Cadasta Foundation to innovate. By utilizing the Trimble Catalyst DA2 GNSS system, field teams from Cadasta and its local partner, the Ujamaa Foundation, are now collecting highly accurate data on land parcels, ensuring compliance with the new guidelines and surpassing the 5,000-parcel mark with no boundary overlaps. Glad to share the fact that I have successfully completed the installation and testing of the brand new Trimble MX60 mobile mapping system that just entered in SC GISCAD SRL I remember years ago when I installed some Trimble MX2 mobile mapping systems and it was quite a challenge to mount it on a car due to its complexity and setup requirements. In contrast, installing the Trimble MX60 is significantly easier, with a more user-friendly mounting process that saves both time and effort. A few days ago, my colleague(Dan Butvidas) and I visited an underground mine. It was an enriching experience to get our boots on the ground and put to test some of the mining features developed by the #TrimbleAccess team. The only way to get all the information into a map efficiently was to use a combination of the cloud, Esri ArcGIS Field Maps, and mobile tools, combined with a highly accurate GNSS unit. – Mark Butler, vice president of GIS and transportation services, Banning With employee retirements looming, staff in Lawrenceburg, Indiana needed to digitize the city’s critical power, water, sewer and storm sewer infrastructure. Assisted by civil engineering company Banning Engineering and Trimble distributor Seiler Geospatial, Lawrenceburg began a citywide project to collect utility mapping data and create a GIS-based principal utility map.

Today is UNESCO's first #WorldDayForGlaciers and the United Nations has declared 2025 the International Year of Glaciers' Preservation. #TeamTrimble supports the work of Klaus Thymann and Project Pressure to model and monitor the world's equatorial glaciers. Their expeditions to the Stanley Plateau in Uganda have done just that with Trimble TerraFlex software and corrections through Trimble Catalyst GNSS positioning service. The project was done in partnership with the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and UNESCO.
