At Verizon, we run to a crisis to help people in need. This has been a core value of our company from day one, and the challenges we have faced over the last few weeks have been no exception. I was immensely proud of our team’s rapid response to rebuild and reconnect communities after Hurricane Helene. There is more work to be done for those impacted by Helene, and now Hurricane Milton is fast approaching the Florida coast.
Verizon is committed to keeping communities and first responders connected. Our teams are working tirelessly on preparation measures to ensure resources are in place for rapid response. Here is what you need to know:
✅ Our networks are primed. Verizon's network is engineered with the goal of withstanding severe weather. Despite this, we have prepared for potential network recovery operations by assembling a fleet of portable network solutions nearby.
✅ Our Frontline teams are prepared to assist first responders. The Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team is on standby, ready to provide mission-critical communications support to public safety agencies in impacted areas.
✅ Satellite communications have proven to be an effective tool when terrestrial services have been impacted, so it’s important to make sure your phone is ready. If you have an iPhone 14 or newer, update to iOS 18 to have satellite messaging capability. If you have a Pixel 9, Emergency SOS messaging is available via satellite.
✅ We are doing everything we can to support and ensure connection for businesses, customers, employees and their loved ones. Verizon has a variety of resources with updates, suggestions and tips for disaster preparedness. I’ve linked a number of them below.
